GBA SP: Well, I FINALLY Got One!

Ok so the SP's been out for a while now but I refused to jump on the bandwagon, Nintendo pissed me off with their seemingly incessant releases of GB revisions, GB, GBC, GB Pocket, GBA, GBA SP... So like a fool I turned my back on GB and cast a blind eye whenever it was mentioned.

However, having a key position at an EB Games store of your own does make it a little harder to ignore the GBA so one day when it was quiet I decided to crack open our display GBASP and pop in a few GBA titles... excitement and awe followed... Even now I find it hard to believe just how advanced (no pun intended) the GB has become, I sat there playing games that I played on the yester-year consoles and in all fairness were marketedly improved versions of their predecesors. Then came Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, now I love the FF series but find them too long-winded, so I expected FFTA to be a short dumbed down version of FF.... uhh... WRONG!!! I was blown away by how much they were able to pack into this miniscule catridge, it's remarkable really. I tried out Splinter Cell too and was quite surprised at how well they captured it on the GBA after all it was quite a breakthrough on the X-Box and PC.

So, needless to say, I put one on Layby and after a fat paycheck last night I picked up the GBA SP along with Sonic Advance (part 1) and oh boy oh boy, am I loving it or what!

The only downfall to the GBA is that now I have a whole new plethora of games to purchase from, and I already spend far too much money on games.

Anyway, what games do you guys recommend, keeping in mind that I dislike and top view games like the original FF's, isometric is cool though.

p.s. anyone played Star Wars: Flight of the Falcon yet?

Is it actually worth it because I've been in between whether I should get it or not?

Insofar I have to give you a resounding "HELL YES!". Still, it may be worth borrowing a friends and trying out a few titles which interest you.

Some people may think it's a waste of cash, but I got the adapter for the Gamecube and I am loving it as well. Just last weekend all my friends were over drinking and fighting for the controller once I turned on SMB3. Then I picked up Zelda:Link to the Past and Super Mario World. I am reliving great moments from my past and loving every minute of it.

Hope you enjoy yours and don't go broke buying games .

Most of these titles are no-brainers, but I can recommend first-hand Metroid Fusion, either of the Advance Wars games, anything in the Castlevania series, and Pokemon Sapphire or Ruby. And definitely SMB3.

Buy one and check out the backlit LCD. It's worth it. I bought mine for $99 and I've played the hell out of it. I own all of the consoles, and I still play the SP frequently. Advance Wars, the Castlevanias, and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance are worth the purchase of it. And it feels damn cool in your hands. I've realized that the only reason I hated Gameboy before was the lack of backlit screens. Well, this is it. This is the perfect way a Gameboy should have been released. If you're interested at all, trust me, it's worth it!

GBA SP is great, I bought one a few months back when FF Tactics Advance came out, I'd been playing it like crazy. Then on Thurs. we had mass amounts of family over for thanksgiving dinner and my GBA up and vanishes. I've got a bunch of bratty ass little cousins, I know I'll never see it again.

anyways, if you are a gamer in the least bit, its a great buy. But I wouldn't really suggest it if going from the regular GBA. the added benifit of the backlit screen is great, but i don't know if it's worth the cash you'll be dishing out for it.

like Mr. Deflok said, I've found myself countless nights in my bed with the glow of the backlit screen lighting up the room.

I had a GBA, but got sick of having to adjust my screen to the light, so I shelled out the hundred bucks and got me an SP. Way worth it. The games are much prettier in full color AND backlighting, plus its so small and the clamshell design keeps it protected

Games i suggest:
All the castlevania games
Advanced wars 1 and 2 (fun strategy games)
Final Fantasy Tactics (Good for a while, but does get kinda old after a while)
Golden Sun 1 and 2(kinda kiddy, but fun nontheless)

That's all I can suggest right now out of the games i've actually played.

The SP is totally worth it, even if you have a regular GBA. The lighted screen makes it so much better!

I've put about 11 hours into my FFTA, getting to learn more about the battle system so I'm enjoying it more now.

Just got my SP this past weekend. Love the thing, got Tactics with it and it's great. Think I'm gonna pick up Advance Wars 2 or one of the Castlevanias next.
