Favorite Gaming Machine:
pick yours
|
My PC.
I don't own any of the others, and never will. |
yeap. pc all the way.
it's got the most juice, better graphics, more memory, wide variety of controlers and pretty much everything else. |
Why isn't there an "all of the above" option? I hate console wars. Play the good games on the system and you'll never hate a console. Play the bad ones and you'll hate the system. It's as simple as that. I like PC, XBox, PS2, and GC because I play the GOOD games for them.
-Lasereth |
Gotta say PC. Own everything but an x-box and love them all, but can't beat a good PC for gaming.
|
Out of those four, I'd say PC because it's the only system I have right now. I had a Gamecube, but gave it to my friend for a going away present a while back.
|
So far, my favorite is GameCube.
I haven't played any of the other consoles yet, and the only pc games I've played are some dirt-track racing games and whatever I can download. I can't seem to get a hang of playing games with a keyboard and I don't know of any real good game-controllers that would handle it all. |
PC all the way. The only reason I bought a PS2 was to play FFX.
|
I voted PS2. Although I would consider my PC pretty kick ass, I have to actually vote for an original console system, seems more fair. That and I just play more games for the PS2.
|
same, I would say PC but its not for just pure gaming, doesn't seem fair to me so i voted for the Xbox. Some REALLY good xbox live games out there now such as CS, RS6, Crimson Skies, PGR2, Halo2 soon..
|
no contest, pc takes the cake
|
Hey! I like my GBA and Sega Genesis!! No voting for those, eh?
Heh :) |
PC all the way for me.
The consoles are starting to mature however... So I might pick one up sometime.... |
Although, before i say anything,
*i know pc's can do everything xbox can, and more, but they cant do it for the same price* i chose xbox, Not only for its gaming qualities, xbox is just an all around kickass media entertainment system. with a big, nasty HD, and a modchip, you can do anything. play every snes, every genesis, lots of n64, lots of PS1, and lots of other SUB-Dreamcast system's games. play DVDs, DIVX, XVID, MPEG, VCD, WMA, RA, and just about every other video format (with the right codecs, but most are included with xbox media player). play xbox games (duh) free online gaming (with tunnelling software (xlink, xbox connect, etc)..) run linux.. possibilities are endless, - run a webserver - run a mailserver - run a game server - be the coolest geek on your block since all xbox software is open based, that means with a lil programming knowledge, you can code your own apps, and tweak the ones available to your hearts desire. output to optical dolby 5.1, HDTV compatible, S-Video and RCA's. Now, show me a pc that can do all that for 200 bucks? |
your xbox cant do that for 200 bucks either.
i picked the gamecube, im happy with my purchases, though im thinking of picking up a ps2 for all those fun best seller's games for 20 bucks. Kindom jearts... mmm.. |

199 for xbox 50 for mod chip? 249 * .65 (conv. factor) = 161.85 USD it comes stock with 10 gig hd. If you wanted to put in say, 80gigs. You can pickup a 7200/2mb cache 80gb for around $89 so, 249 +89 = $338 CDN = $219.70 USD |
I placed my vote on PC because it is the only thing i've got right now. It does its job, and i really dont have the time to game as I used to back in the days of highschool.
If I had to money to invest, it would be X-box all away. That system is great. |

I voted Xbox only because i've been a console gamer since forever, i can safely say i've never played a single video game on a computer. maybe i don't know what i'm missing. |
Horrible choices in the poll.
|
I choose my PC over the others since it is simply universally better however were there a choice of the Mega-Drive/Genesis my vote would go there. Childhood memories are unbeatable.
|
xbox, I have it modded too, 250gb hdd w/ no solder mod chip.
Play dvd's w/out remote, old roms, divx movies. |
Have to go with the PC.
Expandability, versitility and in general (there are exceptions), much deeper gameplay than anything you'll find on a console. |
I have a PC and a PS2 and I like the PC best. I'am realy into FPS and the PC still is the bestplatform for that.
|
PSP!! k, it's not out yet, but still...
|
people are dumb. they spend hundreds and sometimes thousands to buy parts for their 'ultimate gaming rigs'... for that just go out and drop 200 bucks for a console. the games are a lot more reliable, run super smoothly, you don't need to play on your desk, you can just plop on a bean bag chair and play relaxed, and there are no interruptions, such as an unexpected error, an IM window minimizing your game, or the other little interruptions PC's bring w/ them. Buying a 600 dollar PC that has a celeron at 2ghz and buying a console is where it's at. A PC to do work/surf/music/movies and a console to do the intensive gaming.
but anyway... uh, i gotta say PS2, althought the architecture of the Gamecube is quite impressive, that little box is damn powerful. |
I picked PC because SNES and Dreamcast aren't on the list.

From those I'd pick PC.
|
my pc will beat any other consol out there, hands down.

My PC. I will never buy a console.

snes has some of the best games ever
ogre battle is my fav game on it |

I voted PC. PC games tend to be much more interesting and in depth than traditional console games. Add modding communities, ability to patch and tweak, etc...
I gotta ask: Quote:

I have to vote for the PC.
I love consoles, but it's the keyboard//mouse that sells me for pc. I just don't have that degree of control with a game pad. |
PC. I like everything about it much better than any console.
|
PS2, just because I felt I spent way too much time in the chair playing StarCraft and Diablo 2.

Plus I use my PC for everything. So why have something laying around that serves one purpose? And FPS's suck on consoles. |

There are plenty of good console FPS. They just lack keyboard and mouse support...that's why PC gamers tend to hate them. No, you can't be as precise as with a keyboard and mouse, but it makes the game more challenging and rewarding. I prefer a keyboard and mouse to games like Battlefield 1942, but some games like Halo are simply played better with a controller. PC games offer upgradeability, mods, and all kinds of other options, but that doesn't mean console games are inferior. Some of the best damned games the world has ever seen have been on console. I've argued this a hundred times, but I still believe the fundamental biggest advantage that consoles have over PC is reliability. No driver screw-ups, no upgrading the console to play a newer game a year later, no operating system incompatibility issues, no random crashes, just straight up gaming that starts with the press of a power button. Consoles are made for gaming, and they do it damn well. PCs are made for various applications, one of them being gaming, but when ya have a platform that has multiple uses then you're gonna get errors. -Lasereth |

I own all of them. Xbox wins for me.

As a whole I'd say that I like the PS2 better, although my favorite games are PC. So..
|
Man..you cannot do a thread like this. Its just not poissible to discuss consoles with some of the people that haunt this board. It leads to rampant fanboyism. All the systems are great..everyone last one. If it plays and does what you want it to..then great.

Yep. -Lasereth |
PC owns. the PS2 is a fine piece of electronics too, though.
|
For gaming solely, I love my GC. But I'm totally addicted to NWN and that's PC, but it's like one of the few games I play on the PC so GC is my vote.
-Azh |
Out of these four I was forced to choose the PC. Actually, my fav gaming machine ever was the Sega Saturn. Import games were arcade perfect and with a few joysticks and some multi taps it was a better-than-arcade experience (due to my stereo and better video equipment than an arcade.)
|
does SNES count? The sports graphics are awful and Madden 93 is impossible but the role playing games are unmatched. No system has as many solid role playing games.
|
I have to go with PS2 cuz it has more of the game I like to play.
|
Xbox! (just bought one for a christmas-present-for-myself)
|
i have a great video card in my machine so every game just looks better on my pc than it does on my x-box or ps2
|
Shut up, Mega Drive II 0wnz j00!

1. Don't you have to solder on the mod chip? Aside from having to buy a mod chip, the soldering a bit difficult. I hate to wast a new counsle just becuase I soldered the mod chip wrong. 2. How do u install these tunneling softwares onto an xbox. I never owned a cousle so I never knew how that was possible. 3. If you own a moded xbox then you probably download the games off the net. Factor in the dvd burner and dvd disks costs I am pretty sure that goes well over $200 in any currency. |

GBA! But seeing as that's not an option, I'll go with PS2.
|
I don't get the argument about consoles having the advantage of not having to be upgraded to play the latest games. Instead they just go obsolete and people stop making games for them, and if you want to play new console games you have to buy a new console. What's the difference?
Personally I like PCs better simply because the games tend to have much more depth. Console games are generally more arcade-style than PC games, and therefore much simpler. I've owned a couple of consoles and my brother has an xbox, and I could probably count on my fingers the console only titles that have held my attention for more than a few days. That said, I don't dismiss consoles out of hand, they can be fun, and sometimes I'll want something simple I can veg out and play, but overall PC games beat console games hands down. |

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that. As I said, I myself have owned several consoles and have played games on several others; I'm not just going by my brother's games.
As for upgrading, I've had mine for 4 years now and have spent less than the average price of a console on upgrading it, and I haven't had any problems running any recent games at all. |
The main issue for me is the graphics. TVs including the HDTV cannnot produce the same quatlity as the PC. It also seems to be a wider choice of games for the PC. Yes it does cost more than a console but it also does a lot more. I still play console games but prefer to use the PC.

This thread makes me cry. :(
