Without a doubt the best game series has to be the games from interplay/blackisle/Bioware:

Fallout and Fallout 2
Baldurs Gate and Baldurs Gate 2 + Add-ons

These games gave life to the dying genre of roleplaying games again. Just look at the results today and all the new RPG games coming from different companies.

Best Game: I'd have to go with Max Payne. That game was the first game that I played through every mode just to keep playing the game. :)

Thanksfor the reminder gothmog! Monkey Island is an amazing series. The original Quake has evolved so much online its incredible. The depth of that game blows me away... I just wish i was good enough to keep up with the skills people have developed in the last 7(?!) years..

that is the most addicting game ever.. i wasted about 5 years of my life on it.. but IT'S SO DAMN FUN.. i'm good at it to say the least ;)

In terms of storyline, Mafia takes the cake for PC games. That game almost made me cry, it was beautifully done.

FF7 is probably better though, but I don't know if I want the port to count. I think it's a console game really, so I'll exclude it.
