did a search for this but found nothing...

just wondering if anyone has any idea what's happening with elite 4. i remember seeing some concept art and loads of speculation on fan sites about when it was coming out, and what features it would have, and people were having huge discussions about what aspects they wanted to see in the game...

now, the frontier developments site seems to have gone quiet, and most of the fan sites seem to be permanently 'down for maintenance'...

what's happened?

I also wanted to start a discussion about elite 4, cos i've just been playing freelancer, and while i'm enjoying it a lot, it's not as satisfying as even the first elite game was, at least the trading isn't... so what does the perfect 'space sim' need?

I'm a big fan of the original Elite (as played on my BBC Micro, now using Elite: The New Kind). However, there's been no activity on the elite 4 sites for ages now... I think we may be in for a long wait!

The 'perfect' space sim is out there.. I just wish I could damn well remember what it was called

X2? I remember doin a search for freelancer type stuff and stumbled across that. Looks great. When you finish freelancer you'll go.. hrmm leave that up to you actually

oh yeah, i saw a rolling demo of this on some coverdisc once... it made my computer choke, so i never really thought about buying it.

the original X was a whole lot like elite. I played for a month or so and got tired of flying around shooting things, so i built 5 or 6 factorys on asteroids and just collected the cash. Very open ended game. You can prob find it on ebay. X2 should be good also.
