Soldier of Fortune II - Double Helix
Just picked a copy of the Gold Package. Anybody play this? Hints, tips?
|
I have it. Played it for a while. Gameplay is a little slow but the random map generator with night and day settings make it a great game. If you like faster gameplay, I suggest the Urban Terror mod for Quake 3. To this date, the Q3 engine is still the best for FPS games.

Great game, lot of people hated it though. One thing I did hate was the accuracy of the snipers and the fact that anyone can still see you despite wading through the dense grasses of Columbia. Over than that (oh and the main character looking like a gimp) I quite enjoyed the game, the model violence deformation was done very well.

I too liked this game when it first came out, and it still is one of the 'prettier' games out there in terms of FPS shooters. As mentioned, the random map generator is really a neat feature.
I also played a variant called 'Last Man Standing' which was sniper only in urban settings and followed strict rules about when you could shoot someone. In short, good game, great graphics, typical gameplay. |
This game is really fun online...rush through the single player and get to multiplayer as soon as possible!

I liked the first one, although i played the second i didn't really get into it.

I enjoyed it. I like running around with the shotgun aiming low and blowing legs off. Good clean fun.
|
I really liked the grease gun or whatever it was called. Down and dirty.

The sneaking aspect is what turned me off. If they are going to bring that element of realism out in a game then at least put in the ability to switch to third person and vice versa.
|
I enjoyed tossing smoke and flash grenades everywhere the bringing out my M1 and nading the blind bastards. :D
|
What got to me was the knifing. Nothing more personal that slashing the shit out of some AI.
|
Personally, I didn't like the gold edition. It's alot slower than the 1st edition. That, and all my friends play on v1.0.
As for third person, Sun Tzu, you can do that in multiplayer by typing something in the console. I can't remember what it was. but just ask anyone on a server. |
