"I'm in agreence with Vinoh as well.." Darghon looks back to the controlling room then at the cobwebs.. "Why does it look like the cobwebs haven't been passed through?" pondering abit "There is always the possiblility that he made himself intangeable and simply walked through the cobwebs.. but who knows right? We are dealing with evil itself here.."
Darghon heads back into the controlling room and looks it over more carefully for anything that might be out of place.. |
D'Aleen waits patiently with Thantos while Vinoh and Darghon explore the chamber. Moving close to him and lowering her voice she looks up...
"I can't help but think of what you said a long time ago Thantos...if we are going to all make it out of here alive. What worries me more is how do we get out of this strange new dimension we find ourselves in? The view out those slits in the wall certainly is not what we originally rode through. I try to be strong but the thought plagues me at times." |
* The storm outside seems to be getting more intense
Lightning crackling across the sky. The wind picks up. The thick cobwebs in the hall across flutter. However, the fog in the courtyard below is strangely still. Nothing else of interest is found within this room The faded frecoes can even be interpreted. * |
"Aww heck..." dargon ponders if he should stop that storm or not.. "Lets move on down that hall way eh?" Darghon mentally controlling his globe of light moves out into the hallway with the cobwebs and waits for everyone else... especially Thantos seeing he has the big sword..
|
Finding the storm outside to be calming, the knight waited silently while the room was explored.
While waiting on Darghon/Vinoh..the knight began to observe his companions. They had a bond, and element of communication he did not understand. To him, this was business..another way to prove himself... Thinking back to how he met his companions,Attrah never realized that he would be on a quest like this.Fate had once again stepped up and set a course. Attrah's life was always like that..full of suprise and challenge.. definately adventure. For whatever reason he was here..the knight would understand eventually. All he had to do was stay alive. ...Looking around...the knight realized his thoughts had trailed off. A dangerous occurence in a place like this. He must not let it happen twice. Glancing outside the archer slits once more..the knight felt his mind clear of questions. Back to the business at hand. |
Standing next to D'Aleen and hearing her soft, sensuous voice whispering her thoughts to him, Thantos can't help but feel an incredible sense of protectiveness and..strong affection for this beautiful elf.
Reaching over to D'Aleen, Thantos gently grabs her hand and holds it tight, stroking the back of her hand with his thumb. Turning towards her he looks deep inside her amazing eyes and whispers back to her... "My father, before he passed away years ago said something to me that I think about a lot these days. He said 'Do not worry over that which you cannot control. And if you are in control then there is nothing to worry about.' At this time there is nothing we can do about the strange world we have been brought to for we can not control it. Once we understand enough about this place and even this world we may be able to learn how to get back. Until then the thought that if I am stuck in another world for eternity then I'm at least stuck here with someone as wonderful and beautiful as you. " Feeling a little uncomfortable at actually having said such words...Thantos tries to lighten up the mood and says out loud. "Heck, for all we know, all these 'windows' may simply be illusions of another world to de-moralize us. We may still be in the same place we were." Looking back down the hallway at his companions, he sees Darghon coming down. Giving D'Aleen's hand one last squeeze, he brings it briefly to his lips savouring her sweet smell and give it a gentle kiss. Letting go of her hand he draws his sword and prepares to move further down the hallway. |
Darghon walks down through the halway to where Thantos and D'Aleen still are.
"Well we didn't find anything up in the domed room up there" Darghon looks over his should to see if his other companions are following "kind of a shame though" and with a grin "I love secret passages.." Mentally controlling his globe of daylight, he moves it down to just over infront of thantos.. "Shall we?" |
* Although thick, the cobwebs give easily to your passing.
The hallway is thin & long. The darkness is up ahead as well a growing behind as the group trails forward with only their light nearby. After a short time but with some walking of the length of the hall. You come to a small spiral stairwell, not even close to size as the one before. Almost as if something servants would use. One way goes up, the other down. The grey stone untouched in years of dust. * |
A slight blush crosses D'Aleen's face at Thantos' softly spoken words and a soft smile reaches her eyes. Feeling a bond with the proud knight, she has to remind herself to concentrate on the task at hand as Darghon approaches. Sure the others would be close behind, the elf follows Thantos and Darghon down the narrow passageway with dagger in hand. As they come to a halt she looks and sees the two staircases.
"Ah, another decision - up or down? Well, the others shouldn't be too far behind us and then we can decide." Reaching under her cloak into the small pouch concealed there she pulls out a delicate silver flask and takes a small sip from the contents. She offers it to Thantos and Darghon. "It is spring water drawn from a magical pool from my home lands. It is very refreshing and filled with energizing elements. Try some if you have a thirst." |
Darghon thanks D'Aleen and takes a sip of the water from the flask "Mmm, sweet and refreshing.. You elves must live in a wonderful world.." Darghon turns back to the task at hand feeling the water sweep through his body "I fear we may be in a different place again.." Darghon looks over his shoulder at the rest of the group "That was an awfully long corridor" Darghon shrugs "And then again maybe not guess we can only wait and find out"
"So then.. Which way?" Darghon smiles.. |
Thantos takes a sip from the flask offered by D'Aleen.
"Amazing..my whole body feels refreshed. I will have to visit your homeland some day..as Darghon said, it must be wonderful!" "As for what direction we should go...I'm thinking we should head up. Last time up ended in a dead end so if that is the case again then we just come back down. I just have no desire to face the catacombs again right now and for all we know this passage may lead back down into them. Let's go up..when the others arrive." |
"I think Thantos is correct, let's head up."
|
* You leave behind the long hallway
as you start up the narrow stairwell with not much shoulder-width* (Please read the OOC thread) |
Lost in his careful inspection of the room, Vinoh realizes that his companions have started to make their way throught the cobweb filled corridor. Not wishing to be left on his own again, the mind mage quickly makes his way to the group and watches the rear.
At the spiral staircase, Vinoh makes his opinion clear: "As I've said before, heading back to the catacombs may most likely result in our deaths, but I faced these monsters alone, so perhaps we could stand a chance as a group down there if the way up turns into a dead end. However, I suspect that this stairwell leads to much larger rooms, not the top of a tower. I think we should go up the stairs in the same order as we climbed from the catacombs: good fighters at the front and rear, back up by mages, and the rest in the middle." |
Colors flash through Krazixs' head, up becomes down and dizzyness envelops the small elf. Looking around everything seems distorted and fuzzy. Closing his eyes in fear of blacking out Krazixs concentrates on holding on to reality.
As quickly as it came it is gone. Krazixs looks around curious as to what could have caused this. Thinking that the dimensional magic swirling about this cursed place must have something to do with it Krazixs continues on up the staircase. (ooc: sorry just a bump we fell to the second page ;) |
* Having gone up the tight stairwell one flight.
You come to a landing. Ahead of you is another long dark hallway also filled with cobwebs that obstruct your view further as the one below. The stairs also continue upwards... * |
"Up or onwards yonder comrads?" Darghon raises an eyebrow looking back and fro between the stair well and the cobweb ridden corridor then back to his friends
|
"Hmm..my vote is for continuing up at least to see how many levels or hallways or doors we have to play with before deciding for sure. But I'll follow the crowd if the general vote is for down this hallway."
Thantos moves past the hallway and up the stairs just a little trying to see if he can see anything higher up the stairwell. |
Glancing down the long, dark corridor D'Aleen turns to the others,
"I think we should go up. I too would rather go to the top and see what we have to deal with up there, if anything. If there is nothing there and we have to come back down, at least we will be familiar with the layout. And, if what we ultimately seek is up there...I would rather save my energy for that task instead of battling underlings on each level to ease our curiosity. Of course, I shall abide by the decision of the group." |
Father Quadrial thinks for a moment.
"Seems to be a good idea to find out what can come down on top of us. So onward and upward my friends." |
Darghon heads upstairs with the rest of them...
|
Attrah simply shrugs.
"Sure." |
Krazixs follows as usual in the middle.
|
Without a word, Vinoh falls in and heads up the stairway.
|
* As you head up, you start feeling a strong breeze.
Turning the corner you see the sky above you with dark clouds. Drizzle starts to fall on your face with the an impending storm in the distance. Lightning flashes lighting up the clouds briefly. When you get to the top of the step you find you have come out to the top of a castle. A grand dramatic dark gothic castle. With a tall spire behind and a few half turrets before you down the walkway. You are outside a vaulted roof, actually two. And beside a very large turret making side of the doorway you've emerged from. A wide walkway around most of the walls of the keep you notice as you squint your eyes in the wind. Far below these parapets are the shining wet cobblestones of the courtyard. You see that you could go straight-ahead on this walkway across the wall going across the courtyard to the outer walls, where it splits both ways. Or you could go on the walkway to your right down to one of the smaller half turrets which are hollowed out for archers, and where it turns right. You are amazed that this great keep is on the edge of a cliff, shear & jagged chasms on all sides. In the distance, dark valley & mountain, cover by dead forests. This is all you can see from this angle, but others might reveal more. A brief gust of wind buffets you.* |
"Straight-ahead,who agrees?"
The dark knight waits for replies. |
With a cheeky grin "Thanks Thantos, now I'm cold and getting wet"
Darghon follows the group |
D'Aleen wanders close to the edge of the walkway to look down over the edge and shivers a little at the desolate view below. Closing her eyes she "feels" for any presence of any creatures in the dead forest below. Slowly opening her eyes she frowns slightly at the lack of living creatures she can sence. Hoping that her gifts haven't been smothered in this place of evil she turns to the rest of the group as the bitter wind winds her cloak around her.
"It wouldn't hurt to look around while we are up here....perhaps we shall discover something by taking a look on the other side." |
Hey Rogue, been playing "Devil May Cry" much? :)
"Personally, I'm all for checking out the ledge skirting the turrets. Also, if Darghon wishes to back me up, we could levitate to the tall spire behind us, to see what's there."
|
"That's a good idea Vinoh. Why don't you and Darghon explore the spires. I'm going to go straight ahead with Attrah and whoever else wants to come along to discover what we can see from the far side of the keep's walls."
And, with that, D'Aleen pulls her bow from her shoulder and starts carefully along the straight walkway and onwards to the point where it branches in two. |
"I'll go with D'Aleen and Attrah. Just let me get my crossbow loaded..."
Thantos sheaths his sword and pulls out his crossbow. Pulling back the wire, he locks it in place and places a bolt into the bow. "OK...let's go, Attrah, you first, then D'Aleen, I'll take the rear-guard." |
Readying sword and shield, the knight takes lead and begins moving forward.
Keeping an eye on the path ahead,Attrah watches for any pitfalls and the like that may occur. |
Krazixs follows Attrah standing behind D'aleen and in front of Thantos.
|
Darghon closes his eyes and concentrates, levitating slightly off the ground "So where to first Vinoh?" Darghon looks to the rest of the group hoping that they will be ok...
|
Activating a power that has become almost second nature to him, Vinoh effortlessly lifts off the turret and joins Darghon.
"I think we should check out that tall spire first, since it would be a pretty good vantage point for anyone or anything that would want to ambush us, or at least keep track of our movements. Afterwards, we could do a general sweep of the turrets and finally join the rest of the group by the far wall. What do you think?" With that, the mind mage takes out his scout's club and turns to face the tall spire, anxious to explore it. |
Darghon finding it a little hard at first seeing he hasn't done it in a while finally gets the grip of it and then follows Vinoh over to the spire...
|
Darghon & Vinoh:
* Both of you raise into the air. The wind is much more shear up here without the castle's walls sheilding you. From this vantage your view is dominated by the castle. It is surrounded by high walls on all sides, all with walkways atop. The courtyard within is filled with thick flowing fog, difficult to penetrate visually. In the center is one thin spire about four hundred feet high, with a pointed roof, with a large hole in it. To either side of the spire, are two large columns, turrets of the same wide width, easily fifty feet across. however the farther one is about a hundred feet taller than the one you emerged from, which is about two hundred feet high. You see a bridge between the two. To the left of the turrets seems to be the main part of the castle, much lower. Square with worn & slick vaulted roofs, one in the center and 2 perpendicular to each side This is framed by a walkway also with the corners of the keep with half-turrets, hollowed out. To the right, seems to be the domed roof of the Cathedral you were in smooth wide rounded worn roof and with broken & boarded windows* The rest of the party: *Down the slick walkway you go The stone worn smooth from centuries of weather The wind pushing you to & fro, threatening to throw you off the edge. It is difficult to see as you move forward, pushing yourself When you get to the end of the connecting walkway you come to the outer wall of the castle, it extending into other walkways to either side surrounding the whole. Over the ramparts, you look down upon the ancient walls of this keep, about one hundred & fifty feet high. And at the bottom, your vision extends into a deep chasm, which goes into darkness The flashes of lightning lights up the cliffs briefly, showing you the extent of thier depths. Farther into the distance from this height you see a river flowing by through a small lake and further on under a high bridge stratling the cliffs above.* All: *You all hear a shriek from above, only muted a bit by the winds surrounding you. * |
"What was that?"
|
"I don't like the sound of that...let's get under cover. We're sitting ducks out here on the wall."
Thantos looks around trying to find the source of the sound. Keeping his crossbow up and ready to fire he starts moving towards the nearest shelter, trying to prod the other's in his party on. |
"Looks like some unwanted company guys, hope Darghon and Vinoh are okay up there..."
Looking skyward but not seeing their threat yet, D'Aleen quickly follows Thantos to get to some shelter so they can see what they are up against and defend themselves. Gesturing to the others to hurry, she catches up to the knight... |
Darghon looks around for the source of the shriek.. "Vinoh, I think we should move quickly.. I don't want to be up here when what ever that was decides to show itself..." Darghon heads for the tallest spire and sets himself on the roof still using his telekinesis to steady himself..
|
"Good idea, Darghon."
Vinoh raises himself further until he reaches the top of the tallest spire and lands on it. "The source of that shriek is probably closer to us than our companions below. Stay sharp, my friend, we might see some action sooner than we think!" |
Attrah follows D'Aleen,Thantos and Krazixs to the shelter, letting the others gain more cover than himself.
Raising his shield,he tried to peer through the night sky...even though he knew it was in vain. Trying to concentrate passed the clanking of water on his armor, the knight began to listen intently. "D'Aleen,do you hear the creature? I need a general direction.I do not wish to fight deaf and blind." |
Darghon finding a good place to hold himself looks at vinoh, puts his finger over his lips making a shhh movement... then winks and mutters a few words
*Casts invisible - Self* turning himself and his belongings invisible.. using his telekinetic powers to slow his decent he goes slowly down into the hole in the roof... not quite touching the bottom of the floor... |
* The shriek you hear is closer now.
Above you and coming in near the corner of the outer walls. You see a very large dragon-like creature, long of tail and mostly wing Sail down out of the dark sky, winds buffeting it greatly. It settles on the edge of one of the half-turrets on the inner walkway nearer to you. It doesn't seem to notice you yet...maybe you hidden by the weather. It's long thin neck raises it's smaller dragon-lizard-like head, shrieking again in the air, you see the many pointed teeth. It shifts back and forth on the edge with its large claws, its skin slick from the rain. * |
"Curious, I wish Darghon were with us, maybe he could tell us what manner of beast this is."
|
Raising his crossbow in case the creature attacks, Thantos whispers to the others..
"Everyone stay still and quiet...perhaps it is just resting and it will fly away. If we don't have to fight a dragon all the better.. " (OOC: Just wondering how close we are to shelter. Just want to know in case we have time to run to it. ) |
Darghon rests himself lightly onto the floor in the turret and moves over to the window being cautious not to let the creature see him.. knowing all well that most Dragons and their sub-species can see the invisible... Darghon carefully looks to see how many legs it has, what shape it is and what colour...
|
Watching Darghon take cover inside the spire, Vinoh positions himself so that the structure may offer him the best possible cover. Then, he concentrates on the creature, attempting to read its general mood...
*Psychic power: empathy* |
* Most of the party is right out in the open on the other side of the crossing wall walkway on the outer wall.
You are diagonally across from the creature, the courtyard far below. The closest doorway, is straight in front of you across the slick worn path. Where you came from. You notice that this would place you somewhat closer to the creature, also. But that doorway is some distance from the half-turret is standing on too. * |
"..A Wyvern" Darghon looks again.. "Yep definetly a Wyvern"
Noticing his friends out in the open.. Darghon realises he's got to do something. Darghon extends his wings... "No.. not yet.. Shall wait and see what happens.." The invisible Darghon, telekinetically and slowly, moves up to were his friend Vinoh is.. "Vinoh it's me.. I'm ready to take flight if anything happens.. Might have to play a game of Cat and Mouse.." "I don't know much about the Wyvern, but I do know that they aren't as smart as my Kin, well some of.." Darghon keeps watching the Wyvern "They're not to respected in the dragon realm.. hrmm.. I might try contacting it" "But before I do are you able to get some sort of reading off it?" |
" Well there's your answer Attrah. Down quickly before it sees us..." D'Aleen whispers to the others as she crouches down against the small edge of the walkway. Aiming her bow at the beast she is reluctant to attack it until they can determine what it will do. Still...they are practically sitting prey if it decides to attack. Sensing nothing from the creature she glances at the others.
"Let it make the first move shall we...if it leaves we can go back the way we came and meet up with the others. If not...well let's hope we get some airborne help from Vinoh & Darghon." |
Vinoh turns to where he thinks his friend is...
"Hmm... I'm trying, my friend, but it's harder than usual, for some reason. Can you see the others? Are they about to attack this thing? If so, then I fear a concerted effort might be our only chance at beating this... Wyvern." Then, closing his eyes, Vinoh sends a psychic message to his companions below: "My friends, it seems I can't get a straight reading of this thing's emotions, so therefore I don't know its intentions or even if it spotted us. Should we decide to attack, I suggest a massive first strike from you guys using ranged weapons. Hopefully, this would disorient and surprise it long enough so that Darghon and I can get our licks in from behind, after which we can continue our attacks from opposite sides until this creature is either subdued or flees. What do you think?" |
Father Quadrial, knowing full well when he is hopelessly outclassed, ducks down as low as he can and trys to keep track of the rest of the party.
Reaching into his robes he pulls out a small flask. The medallion around his neck is muttering in a soto voice, "If you die, I'll never forgive you." |
"Should I try to telepathically communicate with it?" Darghon looks at Vinoh
|
Concentrating Krazixs answers Vinoh's psychic messageVinoh, I'm thinking we need an all out attack by those of us who can use magic. For those of us who can't the use of physical force may best be used while the creature is stunned from a magical attack.
|
"You are all thinking of attacking this thing? What if it can shoot things from it's mouth? All it needs to do is move beyond our ranged weapons and shoot at us. I think we should go back into the castle and wait. Or go back down to that other level and see if we can find anything else out from inside.
At the very least we should start moving back towards shelter...air attacks when we are on an open walkway are not easy to repel. Who is coming with me back to the door? If we move slowly and keep an eye on the creature we should be no worse off if it comes at us." That said Thantos moves over beside D'Aleen and whispers. "D'Aleen, it is just not in my nature to attack such a creature without cause. Surely you must feel the same thing? If we leave it be perhaps none of us or it will have to die today." (OOC: I'll be out of the house for the rest of today and tommorrow (a mini-vacation of sorts with my wife). Feel free to use me as you'd like if this thing attacks. I have my crossbow ready and have a sword and can cast Web and stick to walls...cheers all, be back on Friday). |
Krazixs leans over to whisper to Thantos.
"Agreed Thantos, however, my fear is simple. Wyvern's have never been known to be on the side of good, as their very nature is chaotic. Also we are in a bit of a bind as we stand upon a wall in the open, with cover a good sprint away, I think we are merely preparing for the worst." |
"You try to get out of the weather and what happens? A wyvern lands right above you" Kentelos mutters to himself. "Well lets see what we can do"
Kentelos looks up. Clearly in deep concentration, his brown eyes begin to shift to a redish orange color, he remains this way for several seconds. Suddenly the air under the wyvern ignites shooting flames up and around it. The wyvern takes flight hovering above |
"hmph. . . Intringuing, well I guess it's a bit past the time for subtelty" With a wry smile the elf mutters a quick prayer and concentrates surronding his companions on the wall with a shield of power.
|
Darghon watches in shock as the Wyvern bursts into flame..
"That wasn't cased by any of us Vinoh.." Darghon looks at him "Unless you have some pyrokenitc abilities you aint telling me about" Darghon grins.. still invisible but grins "And vinoh, I think it'd be time to make your into the spire, cause if I know dragons like I know dragons.. It's going to be really really pissed" |
Surprised by the sudden onslaught and following Darghon's sound advice, Vinoh enters the spire and prepares himself to unleash a mind bolt upon the Wyvern. Someone had taken it upon themselves to attack, so now the only option was to finish it off.
*Psychic power: mind bolt* |
"I am attacking NOW!"
Rapping three times on his shield,an invisible bubble surrounds Attrah.Inside the sphere it is calm,no wind..no rain. "Anyone near me will benefit from the same protection, everyone is welcome..so gather around." Waiting for those coming along for the ride, the knight begins to make his way toward the wyvern.Attrah leads the way, using his shield as cover for himself and his companions. Drawing his sword, the knight hopes to take the Wyvern by suprise..or at least get a swipe in before being bitten in two. |
Darghon.. thinking it maybe too late tries to make contact with the Wyven telepathically hoping that this species has the ability.. in his native tongue Dragonese (Elvish to some) he telepathically says "Please excuse my Friends, we had nothing to do with the initial attack on you.. Be ye Friend or Foe?"
Darghon flies out near to where the Wyvern can see him to communicate with him, disbanding his invisibility and casts impervious to fire on himself protecting him from all types of flame.. |
"Hmm well at least I got it off the roof, I think I just pissed it off lets give this another go" Kentelos thinks.
Again Kentelos's eyes begin to shift colors as 3 balls of fire take shape around him spinning around him faster and faster. He appears to be concentrating very hard on nothing at all. Suddenly the balls of fire launch towards the wyvern slamming into his body in large fiery explosions. They wyvern while singed is not hurt terribly, but decides to find a different perch to escape the sour weather. "Looks like I'm still not alone" "HAIL" As he says this he opens his arms to show he is unarmed, although he does have a tiny grin while doing this. |
The creature now in flight, the knight halts a moment.
It was no longer on the ground,so D'Aleen and Thantos would no doubt begin to use ranged weaponry. Standing still, the knight keeps his shield on guard, and the bubble up. The storm would not interfere with their attacks. |
* You see the Wyvern fly away in a panic over the cliffs into the far woods.
Screeching in pain & fear. From under the hollowed half-turret comes a figure not quite that visible through the weather. Those persons near Attrah seem to be sheilded from wind & rain of the storm. A large sphere centered around the dark knight where the rain stops.* |
"Well that takes care of one problem, now let's see if our new comer is friend or foe"
|
Darghon flies over to the where this new person is.. "Good day to you sir... Now.. who might you be?" Darghon raises an eyebrow.. hovering just in front of the being
|
"Well it's a day at least. My name is Kentelos Ma'Char, I belong to an order of wizards who focus purely on all that is fire".
As he says this he bows deeply. You may also notice that Kentelos has no hair that you can see, although most of his body is covered in a black robe with flames running up the sides, arms, and front. Also if you look closely you can see the rain hissing on his skin as if it was very hot. "I was merely trying to escape this unpleasant weather. Now..I have said who I am, might I ask the same curtesy of you?" |
"My name is Darghon, I am one of the race of were dragons.." Darghon nods his head slightly "Thankyou for helping us out with our winged friend back there.."
"Another thing.. how did you come to be in this castle?" |
Quote:
As he hears this,Attrah speaks up. "Darghon,if you would be so kind as to invite our new guest over this way.We can all escape the rain while questions are asked and answered." ooc:I keep the shield activated to keep us dry |
"Yes, well, he looked like he was cold so I decided to warm him up a bit. I...hope he wasn't really your friend..? I really don't know the relationships between your kind. And as for being hear, well I was travelling through the forest on personal business when I came upon a large body of fog, I made a hole through it by heating the air and saw some sort of structure ahead of me. Did I mention my focus is fire? I think you can appreciate that can't you? Can you work fire? Oh yes, well I came upon this castle and the storm started. My curiosity was already peaked and the storm just made it convenient to seek shelter and quench my curiosity. I came in and started wandering around and eventually made it up here. Seemed safer than actually in the castle, I didn't see anything but I sensed it. Anyways I've told you my story, how about yours?
Looks over at the sound of the strange voice "hmm yes seems you have a little party going." |
The small elf huddles within the protective aura of Attrah's shield. Shivering from the cold rain that had too late sunk into his robes,
Krazixs tries to rub some warmth into his numb appendages. ". . .well I was travelling through the forest on personal business when I came upon a large body of fog, I made a hole through it by heating the air and saw some sort of structure ahead of me. . ." Krazixs listen's partially to the conversation going on when something strikes him as odd. "Do you think you could inform us of any news from the surronding countryside?" The small elf looks at the bald man infront of him with one eyebrow raised. |
"If you are asking for news, unfortunately that was part of my business that I have yet to complete. But i notice that you seem a bit cold, if you would like I can warm the air inside this knights protective covering. And if you really want to trust me I can specifically warm you up personally. There is no danger to you or anyone else, in me doing this."
Kentelos heats up the air inside the protective cover without waiting for an answer. |
Watching Darghon and Kentelos hover in mid-air,Attrah knew that his comrades would ask all that needed to be known.
The knight had little use for formal introductions anymore. His invite to join them was purely etiquette. The dark knight took some time to scan what he could see,for good measure. Although he had to admit, this place was full of suprises. If Kentelos were an image,a hoax..it would not suprise Attrah. Turning again to the horizon, the knight looked to the night sky.The rain pounded away at the bubble, never ending. |
"Attrah, you should learn to enjoy the rain my friend, for it is one of the givers of life.." With that he gives Attrah a grin and a wink, turning back to Kentelos, "Yes I can work fire.. But can you levitate?" Darghon looks around for his friend Vinoh "If not I think maybe one of us could help you over.. if you can.. come over to where the main part of the group is.."
Darghon ventures back tothe spire where Vinoh is.. Looking in the hole in the roof he whispers to Vinoh "So.. what do you think of the new comer? And do you think we should check out the rest of these spires?" Darghon looks down into the spire.. |
Kentelos raises his voice so that it will reach Darghon
"Actually sir I have been working on a way to project myself short distances but I really do not want to try it at these heights... yet. I probably coud use some assistance on getting to your main group, then hopefully we can have formal introductions." Kentelos waits patiently for....something to happen. |
After watching flames suddenly burst forth from below the Wyvern, Thantos was immediately put on the defensive, looking for the source of the blast. Unable to find it and hearing Attrah start to attack, Thantos felt it was best to follow along. Making sure that D'Aleen was near he followed Attrah towards the Wyvern. As they approached and the Wyvern started to come towards them, Thantos raised his crossbow and fired. Unfortunately, the strong wind pushed his shot well off target and the bolt continued on into the forest. Cursing under his breath, Thantos bent down and re-cocked his crossbow. Placing another bolt into the bow he looked up and saw the second blast of fire and the Wyvern flying away.
Now concerned that whomever had attacked the Wyvern was now going to attack them Thantos looks around for the source. Seeing a strange man approaching he raised his bow and was about to shout out to the man when Darghon approached him. Feeling that Darghon would handle the situation Thantos kept his guard up and his mouth shut. Before the man could get up to the rest of the party up on the wall Thantos says to Attrah, D'Aleen and Krazixs... "I think we should be very wary about any new members that want to join our party in this god-forsaken place. I agree that I was wrong about Tower initially but once again I have to say I am quite suspicious of powerful mages suddenly coming out of nowhere. Keep sharp everyone." |
Darghon hops down into the spire where Vinoh is situated and looks around for anything of interest...
|
After following Thantos, Attrah & Krazixs closely and watching the wyvern's mysterious attack and flight away D'Aleen inspects this strange newcomer. Naturally mistrustful with any creature or person they come across she does not yet put her bow away but moves closer to Thantos.
"I agree with you Thantos. I don't think we can afford to trust any creature or person we come across quite yet. Obviously he isn't an immediate threat as he and Darghon seem to be communicating. I'd suggest we get out of these elements and meet up with the newcomer and the others inside the castle. Then perhaps we can determine just what his intentions are." |
Vinoh watches the mysterious mage's introduction warily from the arrow slit of the spire. He then finds himself sharing the collective sense of apprehension stemming from the rest of his group. This stranger was powerful and seemed to have the forces of fire under his command...
Upon the arrival of Darghon to the spire, Vinoh addresses him: "I don't know, Darghon... We sure could use a fire mage against the undead, but I'm still wary of anything popping out of nowhere, no matter what assistance is offered. Fo that reason, I think we should go back to the group with this... Kentelos. Exploring the spires further would divide our group for too long, plus it's not like they could back us up if we ran into anything up there, like a pissed off Wyvern returning for some payback..." Using his telekinesis, Vinoh slips out the spire and heads down to the group. As he approaches the fire mage, he lifts him up as well to transport him to where the rest of the group waits. "Thanks for your help. Now let's get you down to a more manageable area. I am Vinoh Madren of the Mind's Eye Guild, pupil to the great Mind Master Lanodin. I hope to remain pleased to meet you, fire mage..." |
Darghon nods in agreement to Vinohs words... "Yeah true.." Darghon leaps up and grabs onto the edge of the hole in the roof.. hoping that that would support his weight, yet falls back on his ass.. "#@$!" Darghon levitates himself out of the hole and then flies back to the rest of the group his butt throbing the whole way..
Darghon rubs his butt a lil.. "So my companions.. where we off to now?" |
Attrah watches Darghons's display with a look of slight confusion.
Then,a slight smirk began to form on the knight's face. Not a smile, but definately an improvement from his grim disposition. "If no one else suggests anything, heading inside would be a good idea,as D'Aleen said." |
D'Aleen hesitates before approaching the mage newly come to their group. Still she is mistrustful but then remembers how she too was a stranger once to this gathering yet how she was still welcomed. With that in mind she decides it would be far better to have another ally with them than not. Time and actions would prove where his intentions would lie. Stepping forward she nods at the mage.
"I am named D'Aleen, welcome and thank you for your assistance. I am going to move inside, I suggest we get out of the open in case our winged friend returns with an attitude." And with that the elf proceeds back down the walkway and into the castle the way they came. Glad to be out of the bitter wind she waits for the others. |
Kentelos, seeing the mind mage approach him, wonders breifly if he will indeed get to try his projection techneque again, but decides that he will trust this band of travelers for now. While waiting to be levitated to the group, he feels like he is no longer in his homeland, it feels far away yet he did not have to travel far through the fog to get to this cursed castle.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, and i'm not just saying that because my life is in your hands, or should I say mind. HAHAHA. Yes well, perhaps you can tell me when we get to where your group is, where we are, because I do not feel close to my home thats for sure. Also formal introductions are in hand I believe." Kentelos looks content as he is levitated to where the main group is. "Ahhh what a comfy ride. Well, hello all My name is Kentelos Ma'Char I am a fire mage. For the last 13 years I have been studying with the Fire monks of Belfos Char, where the last part of my name comes from. Now I know, before I came through a thick fog and found this castle I was relatively close to my homeland, I am very far from it. Maybe you could enlighten me where we are?" At that Kentelos waits to hear from those around him who they are, and what they do. |
Darghon meets and greets Kentelos "My name is Darghon, I've been trained in all the powers of the elements, I have psychic healing powers and a few others.. I hail from a society where I was rejected because I was different.. but I found out why not so long ago and things are better.." Darghon grins thinking of his mother and father
"..and where we are Kentelos.." Darghon looks around "I wish we could tell you, but in all truth we don't have any real idea" |
Pulling himself up from the hider hole he had found, Father Quadrial walks to the group.
"Greetings and salutations, I am Father Quadrial of the Abby of Saint Claire. A former adventurer and dabbler in the fine art of herbalogy." The a pause..."The thing around my neck is a finely crafted necklace of great magical power. It wanted me to tell you that." |
The small elf hangs back as everyone introduces themselves. Suspicion fading, the elf merely has no inclination to make a introduction. If the mage has willingness to find out more about him he will ask.
|
Waiting for everyone to begin moving inside,Attrah wonders how much longer they will take.
Maybe turning off the shield for a second to gain their attention.... ..........nah.The knight understood that he and his comrades would not be going anywhere soon. The tower had to be cleansed...and the way home still found.Actually...TWO ways home had to be found. As introductions are shot between his comrades, the knight remains quiet. |
Hearing the confusion in Kentelos' voice puts Thantos a little more at ease.
"Greetings Kentelos Ma'Char. I am Sir Thantos of Moonvale, a Knight in my kingdom's Eagle Order. My longsword and crossbow work well on both demon's and mages. I am sorry I cannot yet trust you as too many strange things have happened in this god-forsaken place. I will try my best to trust you and hope that you are another gift from the gods to come help us rid this place of its evil. However, I will tell you that I will be keeping an eye on you. As for this castle, I am not sure what it is. We entered a great Pyramid in a clear forest, days (I think) ago and have only just realized we are now in a castle in this desolate place. As of now, your guess is as good as ours. But let us decide inside away from these rains. Thank you by the way Attrah for the use of your shield to deflect the rain. Nodding once again to the newcomer, Thantos follows after D'Aleen. Seeing her looking back out at the group, a smile lights up Thantos' face. |
Hoping she did not come across as overly rude with her greeting of the stranger D'Aleen shakes her head gently...her Father had always taught her the graces of manners, the power of trust and the gift of hope and faith. She must remember that wisdom throughout this venture as their lives were all intertwined now in certain ways and they, willing or not, were each a vital piece of the puzzle.
Rousing herself from her strange thoughts the elf glances back over her shoulder as she reaches the shelter of the castle's overhang and an unconscious smile lights her eyes as her gaze rests upon the knight approaching. She rests against the stone wall and waits for Thantos and the others to join her. |
Having already introduced himself on the way down, Vinoh decides to head to where Attrah was waiting somewhat impatiently. He hadn't dropped the magic of his shield yet, so there must be some kind of sympathy lurking in his well-hidden heart. The mind mage smiles at that thought, then waits for the others...
|
Darghon follows behind, lavishing the splatters of rain on his head, Darghon looks ahead wondering what strange event could possible unfold now. He grins he the usual as he reaches the shelter with everyone in it...
|
Once the introductions were over,Attrah asked if everyone was ready to move inside.
"If everyone is ready,we should move inside. The thought of being attacked by the Wyvern is beginning to bother me.The rain blocks our vision, and clouds our hearing. The fight would not be in our favor." Once his comrades begin to move inside, the knight follows. The shield still active.... The knight did know one thing...the shield would never leave his side. |
As usual the small elf followed the group inside sticking in the center.
|
Kentelos begins following the group, and realizes there is still one member he has not yet met.
"Excuse me, sorry yes excuse me, I still have not been introduced to your ENTIRE group. Elf why have you denied the curtesy of you introducing yourself to me? Have I offended you in some way? Wouldn't surprise me but an explanation would be nice." |
Slightly taken aback by the approach of the mage, the elf looks confused.
"I'm sorry, not that I ignored you, it is however a little difficult to tell you about me when I know so very little myself. All I can tell you is that the furthest back I can remember is right around the time I bumped into my companions here. You can call me Krazixs however that is not my name, it is the only one I can remember being called though. I've found that I seem to have some control of magic, but as to what kind exactly I don't know as I usually do it on instinct. As to why I am here, I don't know that either, all I know is that something here calls to me and I must find it." "Please take my rudness as simply inexplicable ignorance on my part" |
* Through the boundaries of Attrah's Shield's globe of air
you see it mold and stretch itself against the aged and smoothed walls of the stairwell. Shifting the dust, slightly aside, moving the cobwebs also. The rain & wind left behind... and just in time too as the storm's intensity increases with the thunder clashing and the lightning flashing in the sky. You feel the wind at your backs. Ahead of you on this confined stairwell you see the highest landing as before. * |
"Spring cleaning Attah?" Darghon gives him a wink and heads towards the landing up the stairwell..
