Day of Defeat - modification for half life
Hi there.
I was just wondering if any of you guys play Day of Defeat for half life - a mod just like counter strike. It's a WWII team-based game where you can get to choose form various calsses of infantry - bolt action rifles, sniper rifles, machine gun's, tommy's, and (oh god) REALISTIC grenades (finally!) I suggest those who haven't go try it out. It's a joy to play. For those who've tried, how do you find it? |
I dunno...never really got into it.
I haven't been one for World War type stuff for some reason. 'Cept for BF1942...but that's because of the nice vehicles and fun things... :) |
I've played DoD since it started. I've always liked it. If I'm in the mood for realism I'll play DoD. For just plain action though I'd take Enemy Territory over DoD.

Ohhh man love that half-life mod....... really cool...... guys download it now..... and you wont regret it.....
|
It's ok. The thing is, half life is just way too out dated.
If you like DoD, I recomend Battlefield 1942. Much, much better and basically the same gameplay but you get vehicles. But now I moved on to the Desert Comabat mod for BF1942. GET THIS MOD...it owns. |
I played it for a but but never got into it, i see its retail now, so it must be getting popular.
|
I play DoD about 1-2 hrs a day. I love the rifles.
I plan to get BF1942 soon but this is a good fix for now :D |
I can't afford (or be bothered) to get bf1942 now - lotsa gd reviews abt it but the demos all sucked for me, so, it's DOD for me, free, and easy.
|
I hate DoD now. It's nothing like what it used to be. I've played since Beta 1.3b, and beta 4.0/retail 1.0 is just horrible. Autoreload, icons, a fucking minimap that shows you enemy grenades, it's just unacceptable. Give me 3.1 anyday with it's K98 railgun, at least playing that was fun.
4.0 is just CS1944. |
I played DoD very early on,and even back then the game wasnt anything special.
BF 1942 is much better imo as a WWII game. |
