Help me interview John Carmack

Hey fellow TFPers,

There's a very good chance I'm going to get a little time with John Carmack later this week at QuakeCon and I'm trying to edit down my list of questions. I want to be sure I don't miss anything important, though, so I'm truning to you guys for help.

If you could ask the man behind Doom III (as well as all the other Doom and Quake games) anything, what would it be?

Thanks!

1. Why did you choose Raven to delevop Doom3

2. Why Doom3 and not Quake 4 first?

3. Why did you try to blame the leaked Alpha of Doom3 on ATI...We know you leaked it on purpose Johnny

Ask him about the X-Project. He'll probably be tired of talking about Doom and Quake all weekend. I'd imagine his plan to go to space might get him a little more excited.

Dare to be different my friend!

That's already on my agenda the_marq! Good suggestion, though.

1) Will ATi cards have any trouble running DooM3?
2) You ever scored with a chick?
3) Was it legal?

But serious about the first question.

certainly include the x project.

a general question about where he'd like to see the game industry go might be good too. he loves to rant about stuff like that but he really doesn't like questions about his work unless they're highly technical.

Nah NeverBorn, that's Romero you're thinking of. He's with Stevie Case.

Carmack is married to Anna Kang, who runs id's business development arm. Here's a pic: http://www.mobygames.com/developer/s...perShotId,310/

More acurately refered to as the "X Prize. (my fault sorry)" It's the race to have the first privately funded manned spacecraft out of earth's atmosphere.

From the site:

"The X PRIZE is a $10,000,000 prize to jumpstart the space tourism industry through competition between the most talented entrepreneurs and rocket experts in the world. The $10 Million cash prize will be awarded to the first team that:

*Privately finances, builds & launches a spaceship, able to carry three people to 100 kilometers (62.5 miles)
*Returns safely to Earth
*Repeats the launch with the same ship within 2 weeks "</I>

Carmack's team is called Armadillo Aerospace.
