Half-Life 2 Delayed...?

Does anyone know about HL2 being delayed? All ive heard is rumours and "unofficial statements" regarding it being delayed to "holidays 2003.." rather than Sept. 30.

little help? :o

Heres a lot of help: http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/27654

This how it all is, you get one site saying YES; and then another spouting out NO

For me, its the same as any other game.

The publisher fucking over the buyer and the producer.

My rule in these situations is, until you hear it straight from the horse's mouth, don't pay any attention to it. Valve will determine what the final date is.

This doesn't bother. Let them take as long as they need to make it perfect. If it is just a rumor then I'll be the first one at the store the day it ships.

I'd rather they wait until November than push it out before its really finished. Nothing is more annoying than having a great game crash on you all the time, not be compatible with your video card.

From what I read on several sites though, I don't think they really felt it was going to be released in september. Its pretty uncommon for top-notch holiday games to come out that month, they usually hit shelves in early november.

I thought it had already gone gold, giving me the impression that the game is done already, and just in the process of being mass produced. I'm probably wrong though.

LOL, since when is a game NOT delayed before being released these days?

Half-Life 2 Delayed
Vivendi Universal confirms Valve's upcoming sequel will ship holiday 2003.

Half-Life 2 coming holiday 2003
By Sal "Sluggo" Accardo

As we speculated in our original preview a few months back, Vivendi Universal today confirmed for us that Half-Life 2 will not be shipping on September 30th of this year, as originally announced. Instead, the release for Valve Software's highly anticipated sequel has been pushed back, and is now scheduled to be completed and be released in time for the 2003 holiday season. No reason was given by Vivendi for the delay.

Half-Life 2 has been the subject of much excitement since the game was first unveiled just prior to this year's E3. The game once again casts you as scientist Gordon Freeman, battling both aliens and military soldiers an unspecified amount of time after the events of Half-Life. This November marks the 5th anniversary of the original game's release, which went on to sweep most of the industry's "Game of the Year" awards for 1998.

Its official, here is where I found it:

My bet is on Late November 2003, right about the same time as DOOM III, I can't wait to see these two franchises square off.

You know what. Even if this ends up being 100% true, I'm not in the least bit bitter.

I would much rather they hold off the release date and get the game right, then to stuff it out the door, and make everyone wait for the next patch.

Besides, there's plenty of other games to play in the interim, so it's not like I'll be going through withdrawl.

[starts to shake violently]

There is a formula for determining when a game comes out.

(Scheduled release date) + (0.5 to 7 years) = real release date

If this game gets done by the end of the year, it will be setting an example for other developers to follow. Most games now are pushed back at least a year. I get pissed at how companies start hyping the games years before release. How about making sure you can accomplish it before bragging about it. It made me so happy to see Valve so close to being done when they broke out HL2 a few months ago. I will be soooo happy if they finish by the end of the year.

Bonesaw 07-30-2003 08:25 PM

I can wait a week or two or three. Whatever it takes to make sure it works great. I'm glad they waited to release anything on it until it was almost done.

Nothing worse than the hype of DNF.
