Enemy Territory - free standalone FPS from id
 

For those of you who haven't downloaded "Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory" yet, it is a free standalone (no other game required) FPS that is playable online, and is from the guys at id Software and Splash Damage.

You can get it at Gamespot or pretty much any gaming site with a download section.

Played it. Liked it. PLaying it again in about :30.

Highly recommended, but make sure that you have a machine that can push it without lag. Lag sux...

Played it a couple of months ago. Not enough teamwork. Too many noobs doing their own thing. Got frustrated fast.

It all depends on where you play, and who you play with. I suggest getting into a clan and playing some clan matches -- that's the best way to experience the teamwork aspect of the game. Public servers are just flawed in concept. :P

Totally right, clan/matchplay is the only way to truly experience a team based FPS (BF1942, CS, ...) Awesome game, even better its free.

If you can find a good public server, then most team based FPS can rock. I used to play CS on a server know as IL web, and all the people on that rocked. The degree that a bunch of people that don't know each other can work as a team on that server was extreamly impressive....

As for this game, I think I'll be giving it a try tomorrow, once I get some damn sleep....

ET rocks, and now that they've released the map editing tools, more maps are coming out every day. It can suck on pubs, but if you go with a buddy online, 2 guys a team are all it takes to take out the objectives or defend them, even if the rest of the team is running around with their heads cut off. Free kills!
If you checked it out before, check it out again and try the new maps, some are pretty interesting.

To bad all my buddies are playing MMOGs. I have fun with this. Had some wierd lag and connection issiues with it recently though.

anyone know the real reason this a free game? They even spent the resources to patch it.

I'm really getting into this game, shame theres so many dickheads though.
There are some custom maps you can download for it. I downloaded them, but deleted the link!

I just picked this up a few days ago in my PC Gamer and already its just as good as the original (though I was sadly so addicted to the beach scenario in that game that I don't think I ever tried the other maps.

This one has promise - and I found a few servers already that seem right for action...
