Which was the first game you played? Where?
Alley Cat. I played it at the school, heh.
My first game was Pong, way, way, way, way back in the old days.
Then, I graduated to Atari, playing memorable games such as Defender, and ET. After that, it was the NES, then SNES, finally got a PC capable of playing games, skipped a generation in consoles, until I finally have my GameCube. |
Pole Position on the Atari 2600, damn I've gotta hook up my 2600 and play that
Karateka on the Apple IIc! Or maybe it was Pong on an Atari. dunno
i was four years old, so i don't remember which one i played first, but I know it was the Atari 2600. i played a lot of 'star fox', an OLD atari game most people never heard of. _not the Nintendo Star Fox_, pit fall, tennis....
It was like NBA'92 on SEGA Genesis on a black and white TV!
Pac Man / Combat / Space Invaders
on the 2600... one of those. |
River Raid on my parent's (key term, they used to own what they give me shit for all the time) Atari 2600.
I'm a youngin', so my first game was only Duck Hunt on the NES with the lightgun. To this day, I love lightgun games.
My parents thought TV game systems (consoles) were evil, so I would always go to my friends' and cousins' house to play Nintendo. The first console game I played was Super Mario Brothers.
I did have an Apple IIgs and I am thinking that one of the first games I played on that was either Oregon Trail or Number Munchers. I also owned all the early handhelds (Gameboy, Gamegear, Nomad) as that is one thing my parents allowed me to play. The Sega Nomad was great as it allowed me to play Genesis games in handheld form. Since then I have gotten a PSOne, and now a PS2. |
i dont know for sure... but i remember playing the original pacman.
at my house... on a comodore64. gunship for the pc was great! back in 85 or something like that. |
battle chess for the pc....which shouldn't really count I guess
I think the first king's quest was the first actual game I played for the pc........that or an apogee game I can't remember the name to super mario bros. for the NES as far as consoles go though |
I played some PC Games, though I can't remember.
First console game was Super Mario Bros. |
Hehe, I playes Jungle Hunt at school. Also known as Jungle Cunt on the computers with hacked versions, lol. ;)
River raid is my first game I remember playing.
pacman on my cousin's atari i think
if not, then duck hunt or smbros on NES |
I cannot remeber... I was too young when I started playing games.
pitfall on atari
some sort of educational game... name a country, opponent has to name a country starting with the last letter of the country you just named... I think I always tried to give the computer Y's... :P |
My first video game ever was Pac-Man on one of those old table top machines that you don't see anymore. I was like five and never made it out of the first level.
Mine was this old game on my family's 386 called "Captin Cosmo"
Oregon Trail on an Apple back in...5th grade I think it was? My first gaming console though was an Atari baby. Pitfall was the shit.
My aunt was working for Atari before the factory closed, we got a hold of a console (dont ask me what) & played it to death, I think I was 5, best fucking thing I'd ever seen!
Mario Brothers, I was like 5 in the house of a friend of my mom.
Pong/Space War at the local Shakey's Pizza joint... then they got Breakout.... WOAH! colored bricks!
First game ever -
Scrambler a old, old, I'm talking 1979, arcade game. It was in my parents Baskin Robbins when I was growing up. I downloaded the MIME a few years ago, ah the memories… Console: Combat on the Atari 2600 Nintendo: Super Mario Brother/DuckHunt Play Station: Wing Commander 3: Heart of the Tiger PC: Oregon Trail On the old Apples in the late 70's |
Pong, on a yellow console the size of a large keyboard. At each end of the console was a single dial to control your paddle. It had 4 games:
Pong: Human vs Computer Pong: Human vs Human Pong: Human vs Computer with a moving center piece Pong: Human vs Human with a moving center piece |
NES Super Mario Bros :D
The first game I played was most likely Pac-Man or Space Invaders on the old Atari. But the first I really remember spending time with was Altered Beast for the Sega Genesis.
I still remember those classic opening words RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE |
PONG....my older brother had the "Pong console". It was pretty darn cool at the time.
I can't remember the first upright arcade game I played. It may have been Space Wars or Star Castle. It was pretty funny how they made Star Castle a "color" game by putting colored plastic overlays on the screen. |
I cant beleive no one has said Frogger yet.. That was mine. And I remember Oregon Trail for the Apple 2E. (sitting there with my fingers poised over the space bar to fire buckshot at deer)
on the pc sopwith camel. such a great game.. plus you can download it for free and play it on a newer pc :)
It was a shooting gallery that was an old ghost town. Most of it was physical pop up figures that went down from the light of the gun hitting them. In the center was a movie of a gun fighter that would draw his gun. This is real old school.
Pong on my Pong console!
One of the first games I remember playing was Prince of Persia on an old Apple II....good times
Duck Hunt on console. On computer it would probably be uhh, Sim City 2000 or Sim Ant or something like that.
I might've played an Intellivision first...or maybe SMB...
Anyone know about Intellivisions? |
Intellivisions ruled. That tank game and basketball were the best.
First comp game: Probably Oregon Trail or this Snoopy game on an old Apple Console: Super Mario Bros. |
Super Mario Bros. on the NES, my brother got it for Christmas. :)
PONG, TETRIS and RAMPAGE
ZAK or something , it was CGA colors ... damn that's a long time ago
Pong on a red console that didn't have changeable games, all it had was pong, tennis, and hockey (pong with 2 paddles per side).
1977 in Anchorage, Alaska. I was 10. |
The first game I ever played was Pong. I still have the Pong machine somewhere at my parents house. That game was great!!
My first console game was also Pong. I think i was 4 yrs old at the time.
First PC game was DoomII on a 386 :D |
I can't remember the first arcade game I played, but it would probably be Space Invaders. The first computer game was Digger Dan on a Spectrum 16k.
It had to be something on the Atari 2600. The only two games that really spring to mind are Pac-Man (I was too young to know it was a bad version of the good thing) and Combat (I kept tricking my sister into letting me be the invisible tank!)
Chopper commando on an IBM 286.
I downloaded it the other day but my computer is too fast to run it. |
Qbert on coleco vision
pong , boy did I suck at it to.
My first game was Enter the Matrix.. lol j/k.. wow you guys go waayy back.. mine was NES Super Mario Bros. :-D
Intellivision Poker, family room, under a Xmas tree. Santa was good that year (he soon thereafter brought me Ice Hockey - coolest game ever b/c you could trip your own players (thwack-boom.)
Some kind of match guessing game over an old teletype computer terminal. I don't remember what kind. My father brought it home from school, it had an audio coupler modem. We dialed up to some kind of computer at the school he worked at and it would type out the screen inputs. I remember it was loud as all get out.
Other than that... Probably Pong on the Atari 2600. |
There was some sort of Star Trek type game that was floating around the old Plato network back when I was young. You played it online over an acoustic coupling modem. That was great. Around that same time (1976?) my brother brought home a console of some sort. I think it was pong, but it had a light gun. He got it at Sears.
I still have the first PC game I ever bought. Star Fleet Command. Picked that up in 1986 and played on my college roomates computer. B&W starship simulator, great for the day. |
Altered beast. OWN, best game ever.
'Combat' on the original Atari...
Castle Wolfenstein on the Apple ][+.

pong on a pong console was the first one I remeber playing (and still play it when at my dad's house).

Buck Rodgers for commodore or Pong for Atari...
Pac Man on an atari 2600! I was so young, I had no idea what to do. I thought you were just supposed to watch!
Pong at the bowling alley... When pong first came out about 1974...
probably battlezone in a pub arcade... At least that was the first I remembered... Maybe asteroids before that... I don't really remember, but it was definatly a vector game.
either Othello or Spy vs. Spy
Pac-Man
I don't know, I might have played some old arcade games when I was really really young, but the first video game I remember clearly is Super Mario 3. I was six years old and it totally mesmerised me, it's still one of my favourite games ever along with Doom, Half-Life, X-COM UFO Defense and Metal Slug 3.
My first game would have to have been either Rags to Riches, Origon Trail, or Test Drive all on a C64 those where the days.
I played mortal kombat on my neighbors genesis.
Duck Hunt!!
before NES? dunno... C64 probly, as to what? no clue, played them all incessantly :)
NES tho? I played it at my grandparents on my Dad's side. Original Super Mario Brothers.... During the week we had to go to Wisconsin because my Grandpa on my mom's side of the family had passed away. I got the NES as my Uncles knew how much I wanted one, and had hope it would distract my mind, it worked... What a great idea, and I thank them for it. Which is precisely why i'll never get rid of my NES, even if for some reason it stops working... (still like a charm after all these years:)) |
I played NES at my cousins house playing duck hunt, then after about a year my parents got me a Super nintendo with super mario world the year it was released.

it was either Pong or Pick Ax Pete (donkey kong rip off) on the Odyssey console. What a piece of junk that was. It did have a game called Ricochette that I really enjoyed about cowboys shooting at each other with ricochetting bullets. I was easily entertained at that age. :)
My first game was further along the line than Atari and that.
My first game was Sonic The Hedgehog 1 on the Mega Drive (Genesis). What a way to start your gaming life eh? Brilliant. |
I have a couple first games:
Lode Runner Test Drive (yes, the original, installed with 5.25" disks...6 of them) Kings Quest/Space Quest/Police Quest I love those series. |
Hunt the Wumpus, oldskewl TI in 1st grade library.
Um, first game for me was probably pong, though my favorite game when I was 6 was Hunt the Wumpus. I used to play that on my dad's sparc station when he was a TA at Purdue.
The first video game I ever played was Asteroids on a friend's Atari. After that experience, I knew I must have an Atari of my own at once, so my parents bought a used one and a shitload of games from one of their friends and gave it to me for Christmas.
I have fond memories of playing Frogger, Pitfall, Bowling, and others all Christmas day long. My first computer game was Paperboy on our first computer, a 286. Good times. |
Hm... first video game was prolly the old AD&D game on the Intellivision... or perhaps Nightstalker...
First arcade game that I can remember is the old Star Wars flight combat sim (remember, the one you actually sat inside of?). |
Duck hunt!
tetris, at home
Either doom or commander keen, at home.
First game I played was the tank/plane game on the Atari (what was it called?), back in the days when getting the Atari out was a whole family affair.
I can remember rushing to the corner store to play Space Invaders. Man we thought that was hot shit back then.
My first PC game was Petman (a bastardized version of pacman)on the Commodore PET computers My first console video game was PacMan on the Atari 2600. |
pong at a friend's house....and it was damn good....
Pong was really expensive when it came out ($150 I think) so I got a JC Pennys Sports Arcade for Christmas instead ($80). Basically a generic pong machine.
Next in line. Atari 2600 (combat), NES (Super Mario Bros.), Genisis (Altered Beast), PC-DOS (MS Flight Sim), SNES (Star Fox), PC Windows (Solitaire), 3DO (Sherlock Homes), PS (Tomb Raider), Dreamcast (can't remember), Xbox (Halo), PS2 (Vice City). |
Pong. The old console game (not the 2600)
God am I old. |
Man, the first game I remember playing was some game that had to do Pigs jumping of a cliff, or something. It was one of the first Apple home computers.
Pitfall on the old Atari 2600.
Guiana Sisters. It was a cheap ripoff of Mario for the C-64. I dont know how I managed it with that cheap 1 button Joystick back then, but hell who cares now. I still remember dad showing me how to run the game and how I couldn't understand why I needed to put the Disk in first LOL! I was like 4-5 at the time.
Paratroopers :D
My first game was on the old school Atari.
It had two stick figures who tried to shoot each other around a "wall" which was just a vertical line in the middle of the screen. It was the coolest thing ever at the time. |
