Rise of Nations
I've been thinking on trading in Battlefield 1942 at Electronics Botique for RoN. I'm wondering if you RoN owners and fans could give me some idea on how the game is. I know its supposed to be nothing like WC3 and Generals in terms of RTS. But thats about it when it comes to my knowledge of the game.
Maybe some insight into the high points of the game and low points, single player and mulitplayer. That kinda stuff.

It's pretty cool, kinda a mix of Civ & AoE. You progress through time fairly rapidly and in the games I played most of the game was expand and build up cities and a standing army (when you get upgrades the units also upgrade no need to rebuild) and once your at modern ages the fighting begins.
It appeared to be many game types and lots of races to choose from. But I have only played the Demo so I suggest you download it and try it out, it is a very full featured demo. |

The game has a great concept, and is very nicely made. There's just something about it that I don't like though. Graphics and animation is pretty poor, and it all seems really "artificial".
Personally, I was disappointed. I think the game is a bit too fast, and doesn't have as much depth as the Civilization games. There is also a LOT of resource management that turned me off. |

I think it's a great game, it's very imtimidating at first with all of the upgrades and stuff, but it's generally pretty simple once you figure out what everything is.
There's a lot of resource management, but resources DONT RUN OUT! You don't have to constantly scour the earth for more trees, more gold, metal, food, etc. Once you start, it's there til the end. Unless there's something I'm missing. |
