Tron 2.0 Multiplayer demo...
Just came across it an hour ago. I was kinda looking forward to this game, so I decided to check it out. A while ago I posted a link to a lightcycle game called Armegetron, and to be honest I think that game plays better than this one does. They tried to expand the lightcycle mode with several types of powerups, but none of them are really that great and just seem like a gimmick. Also, the camera for the cycle portion is pretty annoying....you pretty much have to use the mouse to control your view.
The demo also has a sort of duel mode with players using discs, which seemed pretty slick. Granted I had no idea what I was doing against my opponents, but I could see it being pretty fun after getting the controls/gameplay down. Overall looks pretty good, but I'm mostly looking forward to the singleplayer portion of the game. Link for the demo: http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=11413 |
Sweet. I read about this this morning. I was hoping to remind myself to download it and check it out...

Looks really cool, might be the answer to my need for a not so violent team based game..
|
On further review, the disc duel mode is kickass. The discs richochet all over the place before coming back to you, like in the movie. You can bounce a disc off a wall and hit an opponent in the back. And if your timing's good, you can block an opponent's disc and knock it away, which leaves them defenseless for your attack. Overall the game seems kind of laggy at the moment, but it's no big deal. Definitely going to buy this game.

Has the demo got bots? Will definately be downloading this soon.
|
Looks interesting. Not many good servers yet though, at least not for us Europeans.
|
Played the multiplayer for a while last night. Pretty cool. Can't wait to see the full game as there should be a lot more cool MP stuff that can be utilized.
|
Thanks for the link. Does anyone else remember the arcade game Disks of Tron. What a great game.
|
I found this demo to be soooooo boring. The lightcycle stuff was nothing short of monotonous. I hated the mouse control.
The disc match was lame. You jump around like an idiot and shoot your disc at others. ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz. That being said, I do think the single player portion of the game will have potential. Monolith has been very impressive in the past. I just am not big on the MP part. |
sounds cool
|
yeah, that MP demo was a tad underwhelming. I hope the singleplayer game is better.

discs of tron.... omg .. i owned on that frign game.. you stood up inside it.. and played against the puter.. I really, really, really liked that game.
this is off subject .. but .. in line with games that I just loved. Anyone remember CRAZY CLIMBER? |
The 2.0 demo was laggy as hell for me on DSL, and I'm not going to buy the full version if only because the lightcycles aren't supported for internet play - only LAN.
I was going to buy it for the lightcycles. |
I found it super laggy too, and not very exciting. Of course I should have given it more than 5 minutes of tryout
(it took 10 times longer to install than I ended up playing it for...) |
The colors are really trippy. It's laggy for me though.. so I can't really play it.
|
Armegetron is much more fun imho
|
I agree, Armagetron is much more polished, gameplay-wise. I have played the Disc-Arena MP with 16 others online, and it was incredibly fun.
