TFP Spore: Post your Spore creatures here!

The Spore Creature Creator has a trial and full version, both of which are integrated with YouTube. You can upload your videos through the program directly into your YouTube account! Post yours here... let's see how crazy we can get!

Here is my first creation:

cool! i wonder if he would fly if the game allowed it.

ratbastid 06-21-2008 05:30 PM

There's a "jump" and "glide" action. From what I've seen, that's as close as you can come to flying. But I've only played with the free demo.

Spore isn't out yet is it?

ratbastid 06-21-2008 05:57 PM

I can't figure out how to load creatures from sporepedia into Creature Creator. Is it because I only have the trial edition?

Montana: Spore Creature Creator came out last week. It lets you play with the creature creation aspects of Spore itself, which is due out in the fall. SCC is $10, with a $5 rebate against a purchase of the full version later, and there's a free demo of SCC that has about 1/4 the "parts".

After you create your video, you have the option to upload it onto YouTube. You don't upload your creature itself, just the video. Mine was created and uploaded using the trial version.

No, the Creature Creator just lets you make creatures. A brilliant little piece of marketing.

No, I mean you can actually download the creature file itself from sporepedia. It's a PNG file with the creature data encoded in the Alpha channel (which is EXTREMELY clever, because the thumbnail for the creature IS the creature file itself). But I can't see any way to load those files.

okay, and what exactly is the porpoise of this?

CyCo PL 06-21-2008 07:21 PM

The same purpose of every video game: murder training.

I don't know. I haven't played with that....just the video recording and posting to YouTube (which is also extremely clever for promotional purposes).

To use a sample software application to exercise one's imagination within the parameters established by Maxis Software company, a subsidiary of Electronic Arts (EA), in lieu of the final release of the complete gaming software package.

(You should make a porpoise-esqe creature! :))

For the record, I'm a hopeless infrastructure builder. I only need to kill when people come after me and my own.

Hey, me too! Though one of my friends once said I was the most persistent real time strategy player he'd ever met. :D

I'll have to check this out--I'm really looking forward to Spore.

You just need to put them in the "My Spore Creations" folder in "My Documents" or "Documents" depending on if you are running XP or Vista.

I don't think it looks like a porpoise at all...

Here's my little buddy Giraffopod.

According to xeph, you can right-click-save him into your "My Spore Creations" folder and play with him.

My Melvin. First creature I made.

I nominate this guy for TFP mascot :)

sadistikdreams 06-22-2008 04:09 PM

Man, now I'm bummed.

There isn't a direct download of the full version for mac.
I guess I'll just have to wait for my ordered copy to come.

You can also drag and drop the png files.

Yeah, but to and from where? When I'm running SCC, it takes over the whole screen. Is that optional?

MontanaXVI 06-22-2008 07:21 PM

I could not get the thing to work, a splash screen loaded up and then went back to my desktop. Rebooted, updated Direct X, rebooted again for good measure and same results so I just deleted the thing.

Randerolf 06-23-2008 10:02 PM

May I also recommend simply adding a "tfp" tag to your creatures, so you can find fellow members?
