xbox/xbox360 games via xbox live
Holy crap! how many times can I put "xbox" into a title?
Supposing my friend has an xbox and I have a 360, and we want to shoot the hell out of each other from hundereds of miles away, can we use xbox live to do so? Will the machines talk to eachother? And if so, whats a good game for us? Halo 2? xbox.

Based solely on anecdotal evidence and my quick half-assed assessment of the question, I can't imagine that there would be any problem.
As far as shoot'em ups go, Halo 2 is nice. I've heard good things about the Star Wars Battlefront 2 multiplayer, although I've no experience with it myself.

www.xbox.com has a compatibility list which is kept up to date anytime a new game is patched. It SHOULD work, but I've never tried it.

A side note for anyone else interested in this, Xbox Live seems to have less trouble with Xbox and Xbox 360 gamers playing together, but over System Link there are nightmares aplenty combining system types. Live may have issues (Halo 2 seems to be problematic here sometimes).
