Playstation 2 games?

I'm currently in the search for the BEST playstation 2 coop or 2 player games.
I know all the fighting and all the racing games have 1 vs 1 or whatever but i'm looking for something more.

In guitar hero 2, theres a coop mode that is awesome.

I'm looking for a great game with great coop or great vs mode that is not just boring race or fight.

what are your best multiplayer games when you're with a friend?

ps: i'm looking for something good but possibly basic enough. kinda like katamari damacy.

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. You can go through the whole story mode together.

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition. If you enter a cheat for infinite magic and cast a Doppleganger skill, the second player can join in as your shadow (with all the same moves) and you could play through the entire game together. Not many people know about this.

There's probably more, but I don't remember off the top of my head.

good co-op's are hard to find.

Heh, here's what I found:

you could try the x-men legends games. and marvel alliance.

Nothing beats Star Wars Battlefront on PS2 (the first one). Imho. I still play it years later.

The Warriors! I love this brawler. It has hours and hours of gameplay, the whole story can be done in Coop, and you have all the voice acting from the movie..."Warrioorsss..Come out to play-ay!"

MexicanOnABike 10-05-2007 02:37 PM

hmmm. I 'll have to order that one then! i always thought it would be cool to try that game. now if theres a cool coop, it might be even more worth it. :) thanks guys!

They're silly and not very hard at all, but friends and I have always had fun with the Lego Star Wars games, and they have 2 player co-op.

MexicanOnABike 10-05-2007 06:29 PM

yes, i've heard of those. i'm not sure it's my style...

right now, i was looking for a very simple one and I saw a few that looked fun but nothing with good reviews. Contra Shatered Soldier is something i was interested in but the Continues make it impossible apparently to beat the game.

So I just ordered The Warriors. i don't care if my gf doesn't like it. I know i will. :)

Tell me what you think once you start playing it, MOAB. I really hope it doesn't disappoint you.
"Can you dig it?"

Dynasty Warriors, if I remember correctly.

The gameplay isn't particularly deep, but thee's fun to be had (at least for the first game you play). There's five out there with variations, along with Samurai Warriors...

If you can get a copy, there's always the Champions of Norath.

The only problem is the PS2 hardware has enough trouble rendering all those soldiers in single player; in multiplayer there's a serious slowdown and it can only render a certain number, so you run into the problem of attacking invisible enemies.

Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (or 2008 when its out) lets you and a friend play on the same team (may let more than two, I don't know).

The multiplayer is second to none for all round fun and playability (as we're leaving the house to go out in town, there's always time for a quick game of proev :D)

It's amazing how much fun it is. The only game I ever play, and the same goes for all my friends, is pro evo.

I really "dig" this game! man it's fun!! I just got it tonight and if i didn't have to go to work, i'd play it forever!!! fun fun stuff! i'll say more when I play for more than 1 hr. haha. but i really recommend it just for now!

Guitar hero 3 has an upgraded co-op mode, where, instead of getting star power, you get things that will hurt your opponent. It's been pretty fun so far :)

edit: oh yeah... it comes out on Saturday :)

Cool man! Makes me happy to see my recommendation worked out for you.
Don't play this in NYC with your friend while drunk, though, because after playing you have a crazy urge to do crazy violent stuff (I swear, this never happens to me with other video games).
But yeah, we kicked an old abandoned AC Unit on the street, laughing maniacally. That, and other stuff. (Nobody got hurt, fortunately)

Wait wait wait... There's a GH3???

*Runs off to EB games*

Edit: It comes out tomorrow. Hopefully it's better than "Rock the 80's".

Siege 10-27-2007 10:43 AM

Based on the current set list, GH3 looks quite good. They're also moving more towards having the original songs as opposed to the covers found in GH 1/2.

However, I like the current multiplayer system, the thought of power-ups/downs seems like a bad idea to me.

intecel 10-27-2007 11:37 AM

Most of the songs are originals. The songs sound much better than in the previous GHs. The powerups add a seriously fun edge to the game. There are even battles during single player mode that you have to win to progress.

I went thru and got to the final battle on Hard mode, and am completely stuck on it (must have tried 20 times now), so working thru expert mode for a while. About halfway done with expert now.

(The ps2 version was leaked online a few days ago)
