Did anyone else play this fun little mod for HL1? Well the sequel for HL2 just came out a week or two ago. For people who haven't heard of it, it's a mod with 3 teams, pirates, vikings and knights (big surprise, I know). The pirates are quick with low armor and get pistols and parrots, vikings are all about getting in your face with a 2-handed axe and knights have heavy armor with sword and shield. Each team only has one class at the moment, I believe they're planning on adding in 4 more classes.

This isn't a very serious mod, one of the levels called temple has all kinds of booby traps, fire shooting out of a wall, spikes, trapdoors etc. However, the gameplay is topnotch. The melee system is tons of fun, you swing left, right, overhand, thrust based on your direction, you can block and parry blows and you build up a "special" meter whenever you do damage. I don't know exactly what it is about this game but there are times when I just laugh out loud at a pirate getting an axe to the head and flying over a railing or watching two knights run after a viking while I stab them in the back with my cutlass.

Anyway, it's lots of fun, you should check it out if you're looking for a bit of mindless hack and slash action. It also helps that the mod is beautiful, the models are very well done. Oh and don't forget to check out the hilarious voice commands.

I like the looks of it, played alone on a couple servers, and gave up. My gaming schedule is full atm.

I'll check back and try it when the servers ae occupied. Thanks for filling me in on the special attack meter. I was wondering why I couldn't do the special moves, heh.
