I'm looking forward to seeing some of these homemade games. There's some really talented people out there making mods and games that are just dying to try their hand at console development. Consoles haven't had many homemade games on them. I remember a few circulating for the PS1 but you had to have a modchip to play them and it took you a while to actually find them. With the 360 they'll easily accessable by anyone. I think there's potential for some really fun and creative games. What do you guys think? Will here be alot of developers or is it going to flop? |
I think that that article might be a bit misleading. I was under the impression that XNA will NOT allow developers to actually SELL their games.

Something tells me this is gonna cause a LOT of problems.... Anybody recall a certain mod for GTA: San Andreas? I doubt that Microsoft will be able to monitor every single home-made game for appropriateness like they say they are going to, and if they do its gonna create a backlog for games to be released over XBox Live, it will kill the joy in creating a your own game if you have to wait a month to have it approved before it gets released.

Although, it is unclear how Microsoft plans to allow users to distribute their games. From the XNA FAQ on microsoft.com: Quote:
