FF VII: Advent Children drove me to play FF VII again
 

Recently I watched the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children movie on DVD so I dusted off my PS and replayed FF VII... then I bought copies of FF VIII and FF IX to play when I'm done ....

... believe it or not my XBOX 360 games (Burnout 3, Fight Night, DOA 4 and Rumble Roses XX ;) ) are on the shelf for now just so I can play these PS One games.

Ever get hit by nostalgia like that before?

I've had a huge urge to pick up a SNES again, along with Super Mario and Link's Awakening. I sold my original SNES many a year ago, but that nostalgia is kicking in, and emulators just can't do it justice at all.

Reading this thread just gave me a nostalgia kick, and I found FFVII at a boot sale yesterday for £3!!
I played it for about 3 hours, tried saving it and remembered I needed a PSOne mem card! Bloody hell....

This happened to me when the fansub release of FF7:AC first came out. I got all the way to final cave where you fight Sephiroth, then decided I wanted to do the whole Chocobo breeding thing and fight the Weapons. That never really happened and FF7 went on the shelf.

This sort of thing happens to me often: while reading the X-Wing books I got the jones to play Rogue Leader again, for example.

Haha, me too. I beat FF7 in a record week and a half (my record anyway)! AC was pretty cool though, no?

Advent Children was the most disappointing, boring, misguided movie I've ever seen. I'm a huge, HUGE FF7 fan and I honestly wanted to stop watching the movie it was so bad. The action scenes were too hectic to even see what was going on, the plot was unbelievably bad, and when the bad guy turned into Sephiroth I was laughing out loud at the stupidity of it. If anything, Advent Children tarnished the good memories I have of FF7.

Recently my girlfriend's mother bought me, @ a yard sale, a gameboy advance and a copy of pokemon red IT FUCKING ROCKS! Also I just began playing FF VIII and FFIX which I play often. And final fantasy x is still one of my favs.
