Dine on this divine dish, my fellow comedians,

"And lo! as one came running near our coign
Of vantage on the bank, a snake in a flash
Leapt up and stung him where the neck and shoulder join.

Never did writer with a single dash
Of the pen write “o” or “i” so swift as he
Took fire, and burned, and crumbled away to ash.

But as he lay on the ground dispersedly,
All by itself the dust gathered and stirred
And grew to its former shape immediately.

So wise men say the sole Arabian bird,
The phoenix, dies and is reborn from fire
When her five-hundredth year is near expired;

Living, nor herb nor grain is food for her,
Only amonum and dropping incense-gums,
And her last swathings are of nard and myrrh."

Candor's amazing,
those who practice it more so.
It should be common.

My older son thinks this should read;

Candor's amazing,
those who practice it more so.
It should be outlawed.

I invite comments on the relative merits of these two statements.

I have to consider candor to be a generally good characteristic, though I understand that sometimes expressing total candor may be hurtful to someone. Still I'd say it is a positive thing.

no date. I was trying to make an apparently lame allusion to a doctor telling you to take aspirins, call him in the morning, and charging you a lot for that "medical advice". I tried to find the source of this "saying" but struck out. Though googling this phrase did pop up quite a few interesting hits, none related to the origins of the saying.

carrot glace 12-01-2008 10:48 PM

ah. so you're a doctor now.

Doctor, i have a problem. This thread isn't growing like it should. From birth, it was fine. Even during childhood it grew and sometimes a lot for it's age but recently, it's fading a little bit. What can we do? nutrition? more exercise? should it go out and play with the others? or did it reach maturity and it wont grow anymore?

I have the empathic sensitivity of any butterflys wing.
The best way to communicate with a butterfly is not to make direct eye contact, for even such can shake the powder.

Look away and forget...then they will land on your shoe or hand,
and yet give no sign..for any contrived sign..seems like a giant.

The l o n g e s t rabbit ears measured 79 cm (31.125 in) in a complete span on November 1, 2003 at the American Rabbit Breeders Association National Show in Wichita, Kansas, USA. The ears belong to an English Lop called Nipper's Geronimo who is owned by Waymon and Margaret Nipper of Bakersfield, California, USA.

Yes, the bell comes in quite handy. Cinna enjoys hiding behind/under couches, armoirs, chairs, bushes, and barbecues. She is a crafty rabbit who runs stealthily about our home unless laden with a bell. Luckily she chose not to chew through this collar as she did her last. I believe she prefers the loose, stretchy weave. Or maybe it's the color. She does love green.

We heard church bells as we drove to dinner this evening. Much deeper than the Bun's.
