Over Three Million Chinese Drink Their Own Urine
BEIJING (Reuters) - More than three million Chinese drink their own urine in the belief it is good for their health, the official Xinhua news agency reported on Friday.

Participants at a recent seminar on the practice in the northeastern city of Shenyang were told that urine contains many active ingredients which strengthen the immune system, Xinhua said.

``Urine contains no bacterium and is more sanitary than blood,'' Yang Liansheng, a professor from the Liaoning Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, was quoted as saying.

Engineer Zhu Jinfu told the seminar he had been drinking his own urine since he was 13 and had lived a healthy life for the last 58 years, Xinhua said.

Many of his forefathers had also lived to a ripe old age thanks to urine therapy, he said

As of July 2000, the People's Republic of China had an estimated population of 1,261,832,482. These urine drinkers make up ~0.23% of the chinese population. I'm prepared to believe the 99.77% who don't.


But for the 3,000,000 who enjoy ...

As a borderline diabetic , who sometimes has sugar in their urine ... I could make a fortune over there . Line up folks ... Naturally sweet ... and fresh ;)

If you keeping drinking the urine, are you basically drinking the same urine over and over again?

I've heard that soaking your feet in your own urine gets rid of tinea (yet to prove it right myself), but that is ridiculous...

I've been to China... I'd have to say that the urine is probably better (since all fluids that come from your body are sterile) than drinking from the sink (if you're lucky enough to own one)....

here is a sick nasty story of how i ate piss in hong kong (china)

i was eating at this resterant in hong kong. the food was good and so was the beer. so i did what most beer drinkers do i went to the bathroom. on the way to the bathroom i noticed a woman washing dishes in a very small stream in back of the resterant. i thought how primitve. then i notice were the stream came from. yep you guessed it was the toliet. it was over flowing. she was washing the dishes in the water of a backed up toliet. piss flavor rice yummm

I remember reading or seeing on TV and article about Urine Theropy. They only drink like a table spoon and they try and do it in the morning when the urine is it's most potent. They believe that you are expelling vitamins and minerals that the body needs.

I said it before and I'll say it again: what comes OUT of your body should NOT be put back IN (your own) body!

Well, I know piss is a good disinfectant. Used a lot during the Finnish winter war, I've heard.

But for me to drink piss... It would have to belong to a very sexy woman in a very kinky outfit, with a VERY LARGE BULLWHIP.
