Buying household goods online in Canada. Help!!

Hi there.

We recently bought a house in Golden, BC (Kicking Horse Resort) and we're trying to furnish it via internet purchases for a rental that starts Dec 1st.

We're in the UK at the moment, so taking advantage of local deals is impossible.

We've already made the major purchases for the furniture through The Brick but need stuff like crockery and kithen utensils and cookware.

What online vendors would you folks recommend for this. The nearest Ikea is in Calgary and we don't think they'd deliver their kitchen starter sets to Golden (3 hours drive)

Any suggestions for vendors with online ordering and delivery via mail to Golden?

Thanks!

don't pass on IKEA just yet. When we were living in Ontario, the closest IKEA was in Toronto about 1 hour away, but we didn't want to rent a van to go there and pick up a couch, chairs and bookshelf, so I ordered it online. They shipped it all from Montreal(!!) about a 10 hour drive for $175. I couldn't have rented a van and driven to Toronto for that cheaply!!

Sorry, but I can't help you in buying stuff. I thought I'd pipe up and say that I did a lot of work in Golden and I sure enjoyed the area. Enjoy it!

Cheers guys - I might give them a call.

It seems they're all out of those kitchen starter sets though, and that's what we need.

We also have a place in Fernie, and the couple we have managing it say it's dumping right now. :( I miss it. Let us know if you need accomodation. ;) www.snowvalleylodge.com
Wouldn't mind going back after last years crap conditions.
That's if I can afford to get out there after this furnishing bill!

We're currently trying to get The Brick's bank account number for us to send money straight to them.
Their web site won't take a UK VISA nor will they take the order over the phone.
But I must admit, they're doing a great job trying to help us seeing as it's a CDN$6,500 purchase.

Try Sears online: http://www.sears.ca

They have a very long history delivering goods all across Canada. Many small towns have catalogue outets and Northern communities depend on them for all sorts of things.

Yup.
There's a small sears store there that our lettings agent can collect the stuff from. We've already bought most of the small goods through them.

We've finally been able to sort out a deal with The Brick. Really helpful folks there.
We wired the money through to them. I think we got about CDN$1000 discount, but made it back up again with shipping the goods from Kelowna.

It's a pretty good deal though. We bought the place as soon as we saw it. It's over 100 years old and has been restored by a previous owner who was a structural engineer.

2 days after we gave it to the letting agent, Kicking horse Resort asked to rent it for a Dutch accountant they're hiring. A good long term lease with a reputable client.
Couldn't ask for more.

We originally wanted it as a second part of a triangle we'd like to set up in the SE BC area, with a future third in Nelson.

Well, most of the folks up in Yellowknife Buy from www.thebrick.com . Dunno if that helps you or not. We have the delivery trucks drive right up from Edmonton and its still cheaper than buying from the local furniture shop.
