Just checking to see where all the Calgarians are at. Also are you guys going to the stampede this year? Please be nice but Ive never been to the stampede and I've lived here my whole life! AHHHH. I've always been in BC the stampede week, but this year im gonna hit up stampede at least twice before I go to BC.

And HOLY CRAP did it ever just start to piss rain outside!! It's gonna be so green this summer!

I've been to Stampede almost every year (except when I lived in Ohio) but it's awesome.

Yup, I'm a Calgarian, I really do hate the stampede though. Still, come on out for some great mountain biking, some outstamding hiking, and just some great western hospitality. And I mean everyone. Toronto, you've never seen mountain biking like we have. And really, hasn't this ndus sagainst them thing gone on long enough. Let's feel the love!

Its to damn flat out here to mountain bike like out there, when I lived in B.C. I used to ride BMX and mountain bike all the time!

What's wrong with the Foothills? Or Kana..ski...stupid spelling...or how bout some of the hilly neighbourhoods in north Calgary?

Fish creek also has some SWEET bike trails, Im in there almost every weekend

Calgarian here, but currently in Australia for school... no rain for me! Sun all day, every day. Hahah :D

I caught some Stampede when I lived there the summer/fall of '78. Nice place if you have a car. Got a little chilly so I thumbed to Van and enjoyed an extended spring instead ;) Maybe again some day.

Another Calgarian signing in. Well, at least I thought it was Calgary, recently it's looked a lot like monsoon season in the Far East.

Gotta agree with Minx here, glad the friggin skies have cleared up, the mountain bike trails should be dry and in great shape in about two weeks, then life will be good again.

As for cowboys, cowgirls, cow-whatever, it's tough to find in Calgary during the Stampede when you spend so much time watching the sidewalk making sure you don't step in the puke from the night before.

Sorry to sound so negative, but Stampede so DOES NOT do it for me.

Calgary in the house!

I went on the Stampede Club Crawl yesterday and spent most of today nursing a hangover. Drank a lot of beer, saw a lot of boobs, and danced far too much than my cowboy boots were designed to do. I'm off to a few Nashville North nights this week, and Tim McGraw on Saturday night.

I'm with vox_rox - the Stampede just doesn't do it for me anymore. Too many pretend cowboys and cowgirls. Bleh. Although I would have liked to take in Stabilo's performance on the sneak a peak night...I love that band.

I'm gonna be back in Calgary soon for university, and need to find a roommate.
I already have a place right next to the foothills hospital.
Anyone know someone looking for an apartment?

Lassus - I have to admit that I too am surprised at the number of members we have from Calgary. So...who's up for a get together? :D

Sounds like a good idea.... but where and when? Maybe we could include a "Northwestern" tfp get together, I know there are a few people in Vancouver and Washington.

Hey, that sounds like an idea. Meeting at a bar sounds a bit cliche though. Maybe we should go bowling. Maybe raft down the Bow.

I'm pretty surprised too at the amount of people from Calgary.

I'm pretty sure I'll be at that game...my cousin is a Lions fan, so we'll end up fighting each other at some point.

I would love to show up at the Stamp games but lets make another thread for this.

I'm going to check out at work tomorrow what the logistics are for getting a block of tickets in the same section. I know Minx already has her's but maybe she could sell them for one game so that the Calgary TFP group could hang together.

I'd need to know approx numbers, so if you're interested, post here fast and I'll get some idea.

We could always make it another game too, so don't panic. By the way, what do y'all think of the Stamps ass-kickin the roughies? Right on! Now, if they could only do the same thing to the friggn' useless Eskimos on Labour day, I could die happy.

Firstly....I have four tickets (east side, of course) but if we had a bunch of us getting together we can skip that and go for a block of tickets.

And *giggles* holy SHAT the 'Riders game was great! All those poor watermelon heads all sad! :D Sorry...they are the best fans ever to party with! And please.........Eskies on Labor Day....they shall be in for a big ass-kicking party!

I'm wondering if there aren't more than 4 stamps fans in the Calgary TFP binch, in which case....

And I agree, as much fun as it is to kick ass on the field, it would have felt much better if it were some other team, like the Esks, or the Argos, or the Lions - take your pick. Still, a win is a win, and the Roughies fans know how to take a loss, they've had lots of practice over the years.

In THAT game, there is no such thing as too big enough an ass-kickin'! I was talking to John Forzani a couple weeks ago and I told him my two favourite teams are the Stamps and whoever plays the Eskimos. He laughed.

I just HATE when we lose to those pukes! Anyway, let's just hope that, win or lose on Labour Day, we still have a better season that last.

I am new to this forum, and glad to see something about my home town. I live in Calgary and love it. Getting together at a stamps game would rock (or some place else).

Well.... I hate to admit it but I am a die hard Ti-Cat fan. But a Stamps game would be a good idea. Tail gate before..... tail gate after.... and do something.

Let's get a date and plan for it then guys!

Okay, Minx is right, so here's what I propose.

There is a Calgary vs. Montreal game on Aug 18 televised on TSN. It says it's 7:00 ET, so that means we would have to meet up somewhere (Schank's?) around 5 or so and maybe we could nosh on some bar food, watch the game, play some NTN and just chat.

This way, we don't have to worry about tickets to the game, how many of us are coming, all that jazz.

So, anyone into it? Painless evening of CFL/NTN and Big Rock?

It's a week from this Thursday, so find out what your schedule looks like and let's moving.

alright.... so if we do something... does that mean I have to act my age? Just kidding..... anywhere is fine, though I don't think I would be that good at NTN, never played it and I know I am not that good at trivia.

It needn't be either. ANY sports bar with TSN and 5% of a working brain will have the game on, and most of them have NTN as well. There are a couple of bars along 17th Ave, or even on 11th that will be up for it, and there must be a few more downtown that will do the same. DT might be more central for everyone as well - just a thought.

So, now that I *think* we have a date and time, let's all just put our heads together and find a venue. I could certainly deal with Shanks South, but just because I mentioned it, doesn't mean that is where it has to be.

Besides, I'll be using public transit and coming from the N.E., but I live in Ramsay, so I would really prefer to go south, and I think downtwon/uptown might be the way to go.

Doesn't matter to me where, because I live slightly outside, commute into Calgary. Basically any day would be fine depending on how long they want me to work.

I haven't been to the Forum or Players, so I can't vouch for them. Th eGarage is more pool than sports, but the have lots of televisions, although no NTN. Melrose has big screen, will play the game, and also have NTN. I'm not sure if MVP's is even around as I can't actually get a phone lisitng for them.

If anyone else has any suggestoins, let me know. Otherwise, I say we tentatively say Melrose just because it's easy and central for most of us.


Yeah, it is. It's just that the game that day is in Montreal, so they start 7:00 pm ET, which sucks. Oh well, that's the way it goes.

wow!.. im suprised with the amount of calgarians here!...
im kind of new here.. but i would be down for a tfp meet up. Maybe meet some of the lovely ladies that post on here.

About location: maybe we could go to this place called F.A.T.S... its on 10th st.. close to the sunnyside LRT. It has really nice plasma tvs and has NTN as well.. also an open ledge if the weather is nice. The only problem might be that it is quite small.. probably 100 ppl max.

Holy christ, it is me or is mother nature reminding us that summer ain't lastin long?

Last week was nothing but depressing weather and for the last 24 hours there has been nothing but pouring rain!

Okay, so I guess no one is checking this thread to meet up for some football and NTN.

Can't really get it together for this thursday, so maybe we'll try for another game in September. Maybe if th eLabout Day rematch in Edmonton is televised that would get people interested in eating greasy bar food, shouting, drinking beer, and playing some NTN.

I'll try.

In the meantime, it would be SO NICE IF IT WOULD FRIGGIN' JUST STOP RAINING!
