Aussie Candy
I just got alot of Tim Tam, Violet Crumble and Tasty Apple Chews...
anyone know where I can order them online to maybe ship to the US? I may have to wait until my wife goes back again... |
Ohh...you have tasted Tim Tams? They are without a doubt my favourite biscuit. Aussies consume nearly 300 million biscuits, or two packs for every Australian each year, according to the Arnotts website. They come in eight varieties - Original, Chewy Caramel, Mocha, Double Coat and Classic Dark Chocolate, Special Edition Tim Tam Hazelnut, Limited Edition White Chocolate and new Special Edition Chewy Choc Fudge. My fave is double coat, but I can't wait to try the white choc one....alas, it has so far eluded me!
Why don't you try a Tim Tam bomb? When you are next having a coffee, bite the end off a Tim Tam and dip the bitten end in the coffee and suck. Now this is quite tricky, 'cos you need to only have it in the coffee for a couple of seconds otherwise the whole thing will collapse. Then when the coffee has reached your mouth, put the whole thing in your gob - quick. What you will get is an incredible explosion of chocolate and coffee, and is quite seriously verging on orgasmic. This is quite a cool and accurate Tim Tams advert. I'm more of a Crunchie gal than a Violet Crumble gal - the honeycomb is softer. And I must admit, I've never heard of or seen Tasty Apple Chews. Try here for Tim Tam ordering. Don't forget to order a jar of Vegemite while you're there! |
Try a chocolate orgasm while you got them Cynthetiq,
Get yourself a cup of your fav coffee, grab yourself a chilled Tim Tam, bite off opposite corners and suck the coffee up through the biscuit as if it was a straw. As the Tim Tam starts to get abit mushy, shove the whole thing in your mouth and let it melt over your tongue... mmm bliss! |
My wife orders her care packages from Everything Australian. It's run by a family from Canberra that have settled in Little Rock, Arkansas. The missus is on a first name basis with them. As well she should be. I think I've bought them a new car over the last few years.
They got yer vegemite in sizes from single serving packets to 2.5 kg tubs, five varieties of Tim Tams including Double Coat, other chips, bickies, and lollies out the wazoo, and two of my favorites, Milo Bars and 333's Mustard Pickles (Mmmm, ham and Three Threes on buttered bread). |

YOU FORGOT TIA MARIA!! |
When you think of it, we may not have the vast choices those yanks seem to have, but damn we have some fine stuff!
333's rock! Glad you enjoy them Platypus :) |
I hear that there's lots of Aussies that love Tivo :)
|
God, I've never even heard of 333's before... and what's Tivo? Man I've gotta catch up!
|
http://www.tivo.com
DVR that allows you to record TV via season pass and wishlist, basically you tell it what you want to record and it finds it for you. Aussies and Canadians hack them since they aren't sold in those markets. |
Tivo is a toy.. not candy! ;)
|
Cynthetiq, I should point out: there is no such thing as Australian candy. We don't make candy, and we don't eat it. It's lollies, mate.
|
Too right, TIO. Lollies are otherwise known as sweets, and chocolate is chocolate.
