some kind of aardvark I think.

bernie, its a Tapir.

native of south and central america i believe...
they are kind of a mix between a rhino and a horse... that extremely mobile snout is fascinating.
interestingly, they look quite slow and immobile, but they can actually climb low trees, swim, run, and even jump.
sadly they are extremely susceptable to eye diseases.
