Any CFL fans out there? The season has officially kicked off!

My BC Lions opened with a loss, but it's good to see that Hamilton isn't as lame as everyone thought they were....

Looks like ile be chearing for the Riders this year. Nealon broke his leg the first game of the year, only like the second series. Thats just great....and of course we traded Kevin Glenn, and Burris is hurt....

I'm cheering for the argos this year. They fought hard in the playoffs last year, who knows.

I think the Montreal Alouettes will once again dominate in the East. They have one scary defensive team!

I'm gonna cheer for the teams that have players who played on my university team last year:

Hopefully I'll get a chance to watch them play!

I have a slight rooting interest in Montreal, because they used to be the Baltimore Stallions, back when the CFL attempted to come into the US. Helluva team back then...

Ottawa Renegades are the sleeper team this year. Before you know it, they'll have solidified home field advantage for the playoffs.

Im new to even remotely paying attention to the CFL.
Anyways one thing ive heard is that at one point in time that there was 2 teams with the EXACT same name! I believe there was only 8 teams at the time too!
is this correct?

Temp, yes there were 2 Rough Rider teams. Sask and Ottawa. Then Ottawa folded. Now they are back as the renegades.

As for me i'm cheering for my home team, the Renegades. Go Gades!! Also i'm booing Sask since they released my buddy 2 weeks ago. Boooo Riders!!

That's what I am hoping for ... and a good start too with a win over the Argos last night. I didn't get to the game (prior appoinment) but am looking forward to the rest of the season.

True. Well technically it was the Ottawa Rough Riders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The story is that Ottawa was the first to have the name ("Rough Riders" were the men who floated the logs down the Ottawa River), after a while (sorry, don't know dates) Ottawa changed the team name to the Senators. That's when Saskatchewan jumped on the name using Roughriders in the cowboy terms. After a while, the Senators name was disliked and Ottawa changed the team back into the Rough Riders. And that's how 2 teams out of 8 had that same name.
Claim of fame (in my opinion): When the teams were refrenced in The Simpsons episode "When Flanders Failed"

Don't really watch the CFL, never been able to get into the game, I do watch the NFL every weekend though, as well as Aussie Rules and plain old Rugby, maybe someday I'll be able to watch the CFL>

I'm somewhat partial to Local Heroes' Beaver Lodge' myself.

I miss the old days though. The stadium used to be the best place to party. Nothing would be better than seeing the riders whoop some ass before they implemented the "you can only buy 2 beers at a time" rule. Ahhhhhhh the good old days... Too bad I was too young to be drinking, but I did enjoy the scene very much...

Local Heroes' is a very nice place, and ya I've had some good times there, I think

Hey, starting the season 2-0 is a great way to get noticed quick. I think that Ottawa is the team to beat this year.

I'd like to see the Argo's and the Al's in the grey cup this year. With Toronto crushing Montreal.

I am going to make a bold prediction (this early in the season anything can happen).

Ottawa by 17.

OK, I am named after the Argos for Pete sake, but they have a crappy team this year; an aging QB and not a very good defence.

I don't watch much of the CFL. I'll do like the other summer and wait for the Grey Cup to see against who Montreal will play the final :)

Bombers are off to a horrible start. :(

CFL started already? I just thought they were doing pre-season games.

I guess I have no choice but to watch it, there's really nothing interesting at all on tv (sports wise). No more hockey, no football til the fall, hell, I'll even watch basketball at this point but fortunately its over.

The CFL regular season runs basicly from mid June (June 15th) till the end of October (Oct 30).
The post-season runs till the end of November.

It is really good because then the NFL is getting into full swing.

So, my Renegades go 3 and 0, destroying Edmonton in the process. Excellent start to the season.

The game tonight between Toronto and Montreal started out really slow but then when Ezra Landry returned a missed Field goal attempt for 110 yard TD, WOW!!! What an amazing run.

People that say Canadian football is boring have not watched any.

Man oh Man...

Being a Ti-cats fan, I was fuckin happy when they crushed the Stamps in first quarter 25-0 but then the cats barely survived the last 3 quarter ending in 41-34.

I thought for sure that game was going to be a blow-out but the Stamps came back and made a game of it at least.
That puts Montreal, Hamilton and Ottawa all 3 - 0, that is crazy. It looks like it is shaping up to be a good season.

I have to speak up to notify everyone that Edmonton will remember how to defend the turf. Go Esks Go. This year's Montreal-Edmonton Grey Cup should go to Edmonton.

You think that edmonton is going to the Grey Cup, and you think that if that were to happen, they would win? WOW, I thought that my prediction was bold :D

Love the CFL! I had my season tickets to the Lions every year, but kind of lost interest in the CFL when I moved to Toronto - I HATE the Argo's, and got focused on my career so didn't have the time for any sports. But this year, I'm back rooting for the Lions and the CFL just as hard as before!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm listening to the Argo's/TiCats game on the radio (go TiCats!).

Oh well, so much for the TiCats. Talk about a blow out. Not like Ottawa did any better this week :(
