The 30 Second Mystery 72 - Why?
 

There are four categories: Who, What, Where and Why. Some will be easy, some not. I have as many as six clues to help you along, which I'll supply as needed.

Please limit yourself to one guess, and another guess for each clue I supply. No questions asking for help or hints are allowed. Partially correct answers won't be acknowledged. This is not a debate. The correct answer is the one in my head.

Wild guesses and comments are fine. In fact, they can add to the mystery and are fun to read. Be precise when guessing.

The Case:
In the midst of a war, a king captures a queen and is then, in turn, captured. The captor is not in the military, but does hold a specific rank. All three survive to do battle again. and the circumstances are repeated. In fact, each time they are face to face, there is no way that any other outcome is possible.

The Mystery:
Why is no one injured and what rank captured the king?

No one is injured because it's chess and the rank that captured the king is bishop.

Dang, got there before me.

It is a game of chess and the rank that captured the king is a Knight.

Except that chess doesn't work that way; you can't move your king into check and he is never "captured."

Son of a!!!

I even got a PM about this, and I still didn't get in in time. I literally just got it now, came over, knew the answer, and no luck!
