Worthless Trivia Game
Those who know me, know that I'm a wealth of useless knowledge and am a force to be reckoned with when it comes to trivia.
My idea for this thread is for everyone to post worthless facts that they have locked away in their heads. It doesn't matter how you learned the fact, whether through job, hobby, Trivial Pursuit -- it doesn't matter what category the information falls into, Pop Culture, Science, Literature, whatever as long as it's true. I'll start off with this: The last episode of Leave it to Beaver was filmed 6 weeks before the assasination of John F. Kennedy. What'ya got? |
dale evans' horse's name was buttermilk...
|
My finger hurts
|
While I'm sure it's true that you're finger does hurt and technically it does qualify as useless information, I was really going for things more like this:
Pee Wee Reese's real first name was Harold. |
George Hallas named the Bears as a "thank you" to the Cubs for letting the team play in Wrigley Field. Hallas decided on naming the team "the Bears" rather than "the Cubs" because he felt that "football players are bigger than baseball players, and Bears are bigger than Cubs."

It's impossible to keep your eyes open when you sneeze.
well, go ahead and try! |
Metallica's song "The Four Horsemen" was originally known as "Mechanix" when Dave Mustaine was with the band. After kicking out Mustaine, Metallica kept most of the music from the song, but changed the lyrics and extended the length of the song. Mustaine later released the original "Mechanix" on Megadeth's first CD titled "Killing is My Business ...and Business is Good!"
I'm a wasteland of useless information. I can do this all day. :) |
Good Stuff.

Here's a music one for you. The band Cracker was originally named Camper Van Beethoven and released 2 or 3 albums under that name. |

Before they were The Beatles, they were also known as "Beetles", and "Silver Beetles". |
the skin at the end of my dink is pink.
|
Speaking of the Beatles, the original band lineup was:
John Lennon Paul McCartney George Harrison Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe. Stuart was John's best friend but left the band because he fell in love with Atsrid Kirchherr and went to follow her bohemian lifestyle. Pete Best was replaced with Ringo right before they hit it big. Also, there's a movie about Stuart and his story called "Backbeat." |
More music randomness. Black Sabbath was originally a blues band called "Earth." After finding out that there was another band with that name, the members needed to find a new band name. The name "Black Sabbath" was suggested by Terry "Geezer" Butler. He got the name from a Boris Karlov movie titled "Black Sabbath."

Here's some mosquito trivia in honor of the fact that I was eaten alive today:
Mosquitoes are the common vector for malaria, encephalitis, yellow fever and dengue fever. Mosquitoes dislike citronella because it irritates their feet. Mosquitoes prefer children to adults, and blondes to brunettes. The animal responsible for the most human deaths world-wide is the mosquito. You're more likely to be a target for mosquitoes if you consume bananas. |

"The sixth sick sheikh's sixth sheep's sick" is said to be the toughest tongue twister in the English language. Adolf Hitler's mother seriously considered having an abortion but was talked out of it by her doctor. The very first bomb dropped by the Allies on Berlin during World War II killed the only elephant in the Berlin Zoo. Charlie Chaplin once won third prize in a Charlie Chaplin look alike contest. Al Capone's business card said he was a used furniture dealer. The microwave was invented after a researcher walked by a radar tube and a chocolate bar melted in his pocket. (Wonder what it did to his liver?) That researcher also invented microwave popcorn. |

There's no such thing as suction.
Example- when you think you're "sucking" on a straw to drink something, you're actually just lowering the pressure inside your mouth and the straw so that the pressure OUTSIDE your mouth (the pressure affected downward on the liquid) is pushed into it. So, you really can't get your dick sucked- good news is, she can still blow you. lol |
Peter Ostrum, who played Charlie in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, never acted again. He later went on to become a veterinarian.
He was offered a five picture contract after Willy Wonka, but turned it down. As a matter of fact, out of all the wonka kids, Julie Dawn Cole (Veruca Salt) is the only one still acting. |
