A question for any and all those participating here:
Do you actively try searching for these pictures' through trial and error, or do a few of you have a good source for these specific types of message photos?

To be honest, for myself, I have not yet entered one "peace + love" query into google, but all the photos that I've shared up til now have just been ones I've stumbled across.

I've done both...now I usually stumble upon inspiring pics while looking for something else, but earlier in this thread I also directly searched. Lately I'm trying to search for "related" themes not just the literal topic. Just as an immediate example, I searched for "piece of peace" and found this which gave me a chuckle and relates to Shell's post above:

I had just caught a glimpse of this when you first posted it, but I gave it little mind at first.

Then, I did some digging, e-mailed a few buddies abroad, and now some weeks later, I have got an answer.

This photograph was "stolen" (so jokes my foreign pal, because it was unattributed or posted without proof of authorship) from Mexican photographer Fernando Gregory, a longtime friend of mine.

It is entitled "Peace & Love on Flickr - Photo Sharing!", and was shot exclusively by him two summers ago.

so please, bear in my mind: nothing on the internet is ever truly anonymous, so if you can take the extra 20 seconds or so to at least post the source page in which you found your photo, it helps immensely to attribute true ownership.

Disclaimer in response to Jetee's post#342 above: While I can appreciate acknowledging the "authorship" of an image, the many TFP members who have posted in my thread here are not "stealing" (joking or not) by not posting the image's origin. No images here are posted for profit and none have been misrepresented by any member claiming ownership to be they themselves. The images are in the "nonsense" section for light visual fun. If your friend wants to protect his works, he should post them in a format that cannot be lifted.

I don't think you know the fair use of copyrights pertaining to photography, which explicitly states that use of any image rights held by another must be attributed to the original owner when replicating or featuring the image anywhere other than its original site of communication. Even most creative commons licensing have this same clause that in order to build upon whichever original work, the one who transmutes the piece must also refer to whom the composer was from which the new work stems.

Furthermore, it is very upsetting to read that this can somehow be construed as my buddy's fault for creating a popular enough image that others would like to post it elsewhere without recognizing its author or the work he put in creating it. That is stealing, no matter whether or not anyone one of us makes coin off of it. I just wanted to raise a small bit of awareness, as well as recognizing the creator of your particular, previously-posted image.

I'm not saying anybody here is at fault, but I do realize that there are certain simple measures we can all try to employ to accurately represent creators, their work, and how to find them. It was a suggestion towards future returns, not an affront to your sensibilities, Shell.

TFP has disabled the ability to post images (temporary I was told) unless you belong to an off-site server such as photobucket, etc. I do not so I am unable to post images anymore here. TFP has also removed this thread from the "New Posts" tab so we have lost many of the viewers we once had. Perhaps one day TFP will restore this thread's user-friendliness once again. i've been posting some of my own stuff forever...

use the "advanced" key, click on the paper clip, and go...

uncle phil, you have been using a different method by being a member of a site that stores your URL's from your photos. But if you are like me and don't want to join photobucket or the like then you have to use TFP's "Manage Attachments" from their "Options" box which is now missing from mine. All my images posted in this thread since the beginning have all had a white line around every photo with the words "attached image" at the top of each photo...typical of anyone's images using this option. I was told this option disabling is temporary while cynthetiq works on the new design of tfp. But the removal of the thread from the "New Posts" tab is not intended to be temporary unless tfp changes their minds.

Edit: Eight hours after this post, TFP did in fact change their minds about including this thread in the "New Posts" tab. Thank you.
