IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow

Dulce Et Decorum Est

Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs

I raised a toast to my grandfather who served and was injured in WWII and my uncles who all served in the forces. Also to my cousin in the JTF2, currently somewhere in Afghanistan.

They don't do Remembrance Day in Singapore so I just took some time to remember on my own.

I just finished "Canada's Greatest Battles - The last 100 Days (WWI)" tonight. Absolutely brutal stuff all those guys put up with. Made of tougher stuff than I.
