Welding Gas.. ..aka Oxy-Acetylene

A month ago a few friends got together and started drinking. After a dozen pints we decided to fill a large trash bag with welding gas and find out what happens when you light it. As if we didn't already know.

Pure Nonsense...

Yeah, that is a fun pastime if you know what you are doing. Extremely dangerous though. I know a guy that almost killed himself doing that. He did suffer severe burns over half of his body.
Yes its fun, and cool, but be warned it is dangerous.
You might try a dry ice bomb instead, very loud explosion with no fire.

A guy I went to school with opened a bottle of diet coke and tossed in a "mentos"... it makes a cool volcano and if you are fast enough to pop one in and shake it up fast and throw it it makes an awesome rocket. Gets some good air time.

***WARNING*** Do not try this at home!

Good stuff.
But, be careful, some plastics will self ignite when filled with acetylene. It happened to us several years ago with my friend being deaf in one ear as the end result. He also had a chunk of plastic rip a section of his ear off. It happened while filling the container.

Masking tape on the bag was lit like a fuse.

Good times..

That happens when it's warm and dry.. ..static electricity inside the bag can case premature explosion. We spray the inside of the bag with a fine mist of water to keep the static down during filling/transporting.

Completely honest, Saltfish, when I read the title of the thread I saw it as "Wedding Gas....".

You know, thats funny.. ..I do have a wedding-gas story as well. Though it's not quite as explosive.
