My most happiest of happy shrimp experience
So, our local grocery store just had raw shrimp on sale for 4.98 a pound . . .(yay!) I think I've found the easiest, and most wonderfully happy concoction for peel and eat shrimp ever.
Preheat oven to 350 - 375 depending on how dense your dish is. 1 pound of shrimp 2 lemons 1 stick of butter Old Bay Seasoning Garlic Salt Pepper Coat the inside of a smallish medium sized baking casserole dish with butter, and then melt the rest of the stick. Rinse the shrimp, drain, and casually throw into the casserole dish (best throw was completed after 2 shots of tequila  ) Sprinkle garlic salt (as much as you like) Old Bay (as much as you like) and pepper (see 1 and 2), pour in the butter, and stir well. After stirring, sprinkle more old bay on top Slice one lemon into thin slices, and juice the other one. Lay the slices on top of the shrimp, then pour most of the juice from the second lemon over the top (save a little juice for after they're done.) Cover tightly with aluminium foil, and put into the oven for 25 - 30 minutes. Once done, move the shrimp to a plate, and let cool for 10 minutes, and sprinkle the rest of the lemon juice on top. Happy happy :) |
Sounds fantastic, and easy. I always overcook shrimp, so I've stopped trying. Maybe I'll give it another go this weekend!
Thanks for the post. |
You should totally go for it. I've ruined shrimp so many times, it's embarrassing . . .but this one turns out perfect every time :)

Have you tried wok'ing shrimp in 7up and a tiny bit of sugar...
I used to be able to eat this, until the shrimp gods began to spite me and made me allergic. |
Cool, I'll have to try this out.
My local grocery store frequently sells shrimp for $4.99/lb so I'm quite lucky. |

Yum. Old Bay is the greatest stuff ever. It's also really good to season water if you're boiling the shrimp--but like others said, don't overcook it.

I sauté mine in butter and a bit of seasoning for a couple of minutes at most. My best experience with prawns was when we caught them by the hundreds in our traps while salmon fishing. They were so big a plump...frisky too..yum. |
yup........li'l butter and a li'l garlic.
used to go prawn catching on Gabriola Island, just off of Vancouver Island........man we'd catch miles of prawns and crabs......we even pulled in an octopus one day. this old guy "Earl" showed us the way.........i learned how to prepare seafood on those trips........he was a master. |
OK, I made this last night, it was easy and great! I think next time I'll get the larger shrimp though, and use a bit more garlic. This was the first time I didn't overcook shrimp, yay!

I'm not a fan of Old Bay but the rest does sound tasty. They sell all kinds of shrimps nearby, I'll have to still try this recipe out, maybe skogafoss will love it. |
OK, my timer is about to beep on this recipe. I was so enthralled with the enthusiasm, I went out and got a pound of Mayport shrimp (Jax, FL). Will report back. I'm excited!
I always love to expand on my limited list of special recipes. Thanks. NBP |
Damn! This recipe is all wrong!
It's too damn small! I enjoyed it immensely. It will be my next date home-cooking recipe, combined with a sexy-salad. Thank you. NBP |
going to have to try this I just got 10lbs the other day.
