Blue Cheese & Jalapeno Burgers

Came across this recipe recently and tried it out. Believe me, you want to try it too!

1. Get yourself 3 large jalapenos. Slice in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes.

2. Dice them up an throw them into a mixing bowl.

3. Use 1lb of ground beef. I like the fattier variety because it tastes better - say 73% Lean, 27% Fat.

4. Place in mixing bowl with jalapenos.

5. Get yourself a 4 oz. package of crumbled blue cheese.

6. Pour blue cheese into mixing bowl.

7. Knead together well and form into a ball.

8. Get the following ingredients: Onion powder, garlic powder, soy sauce (or tamari for better flavor), and salt (kosher salt for better flavor).

9. To the mixing bowl, add 1 Tablespoon of Onion Powder, 1 Tablespoon of Garlic Powder, 1 Tablespoon of Soy Sauce, and 1 teaspoon of salt (or 1 Tablespoon if you like it saltier).

10. Knead together well and form into a log.

11. Form into 2 patties (3 patties if you are dealing with smaller appetites).

12. Light your grill with a good WOODEN charcoal. The flavor is MUCH better than traditional charcoal briquettes.

13. Cook the burgers to your liking.

14. Throw 2 slices of Swiss cheese on each burger and close the lid (I had no lid, so I used a super-special lid made just for melting cheese on burgers).

15. Get that cheese good and melted.

16. Adorn with your condiments of choice and enjoy.

Looks delicious! I'll have to try these out. I love the grill lid you have!

MMMMM that looks so good. I have had Stilton on burgers before. It makes a very special taste treat!

I was right with you until the meat... ;)

lol. naaa I'm an affirmed and staunch omnivore. Other than the strangeness of buying ground beef in a tube, it looked really tastey.

I'll readily admit that grilled meat smells fantastic and salami (for some reason) smells really good too. I do get jealous, sometimes, when my husband has BBQ whatever, but there are many veggie options for people nowadays. Ironically enough - BBQ is one of my fav flavors.

I tired the President's Choice Veggie burgers, and particularly like the portebello mushroom and swiss cheese (meatless) burger:

It is truly tastey, and not dry like most veggie burgers. it is also impregnated with swiss cheese that melts as you cook it. I often substitute this burger when i don't feel like real beef burgers....

You did clean the garbage can lid first, right? Ah well -- extra flavor I suppose... :D

Beef in a tube - interesting...

I'd probably leave out the salt - between the cheese and the soy sauce, that'd make me retain water enough..

but dang it looked tasty... :D

Oooh. You know, you could easily make this into a stuffed burger, as well, or melt the blue cheese on top...or top it with blue cheese dressing...

My best friend would probably love this. I'll have to make him one sometime.

digging up an old one, but I had to say that these are some of the best burgers I have ever made...kudos for the recipe

awesome. the only thing i would do differently is leave the white membrane in the jalapenos since that's where all the heat comes from. But that's because I'm a sicko when it comes to hot food. Love the pics by the way...
