Quick Chocolate Drop Cookies

So I was going to a party, and had 2 hours free before hand. When in doubt, make cookies!

I didn't have the recipie I had used since childhood, but a bit of internet research found one that was pretty close. I stopped off at a supermarket, bought up the goods, and made some chocolate drop mud pies. Party was attended, cookies where et, and all was good.

Or was it? I had made two batches, with different amounts of cocoa, and I couldn't help but notice that the one with more cocoa was definately better.

Not able to leave well enough alone, I wondered how I could make them even better?

This is the result of my experimentation:

1/2 cup Butter
2 cups Sugar (white)
1/2 cup 18% Cream
1 to 2 teaspoons of 2% Milk (or a splash)
1 teaspoon Vanilla
3 cups Oatmeal (quick)
1 to 1 and a 1/4 cups Coconut
9 teaspoon Cocoa
1 to 1.5 squares unsweetened baker's chocolate
Cinnamon (non-sugar)

Turn the baker's chocolate into shavings with a knife.

Place liquid ingredients, sugar, and baker's chocolate shavings in a pot.

Melt liquid ingredients over low heat, then turn up heat and boil for 1 to 2 minutes.

Have remaining solid ingredients in a bowl. Mix them well. Liberally add cinnamon (I sprinkled cinnamon over the top surface of the mix, until it was half-covering it, mixed, smelled, and repeated one more time).

Pour liquid ingredients into bowl, mix until uniform. Quickly drop onto wax-paper at sizes you prefer (use one or two large spoons to facilitate this).

Cool to solidify (in fridge, or other cool spot).

For comparison, the original recipie:

1/2 cup Butter
2 cups Sugar (white)
1/2 cup Milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla
3 cups Oatmeal (quick)
1 cups Coconut
6 teaspoon Cocoa

While the end recipie takes a bit more work, it is much much tastier.
