Valentines Dinner
I'm going to make my girl friend dinner on Valentines Day
what I need to know is what I am cooking... appropriate for the occasion. It's her first Valentines day with someone so I'm trying to make it as special as I can. This is what I am making.... so far Parmesan Chicken Garden Potato Salad Apple Crumb Pie |
If it's a dinner that you are comfortable making, and it won't stress you out, then it is absolutely appropriate...
Sounds tasty... Nothing has too strong a flavor, so there will be no bad breath worries later on... and it sounds nice and cozy for a cold winter night... |
Thats sounds really nice in conjuntion with some wine, candles, maybe some soft music.. but i'm sure you got that covered
|
sounds good, my wife and I usually have a dinner at home on V day, since a lot of places increase the prices so much for dinner on Valentines day.
|
As soon as I saw the thread the first thing that came to mind was chicken Parm, very easy and yet still impressive. If you are looking for a wine I would suggest a nice chianti.
|
The food sounds grate. One thing is I would use an apron when cooking. There is a lot of potenchal for getting messy making the chicken parm and you will want ot look good for the eating part.
|
Hooray for not making spaghetti! Everytime a boy has made me dinner, it was spaghetti.
|
What...no strawberries? I guess we're lucky down here in Oz 'cos strawbs are amazing at the moment...and very romantic.
Can someone please tell me what chicken parmesan is? |
there's a lot of variations of it -- but it's usually a chicken cutlet (boneless chicken breast) lightly coated in bread crumbs and parmesan cheese, either oven baked or pan sauteed, then sometimes covered in a marinara sauce (plain tomato sauce) and mozarella cheese melted on top (usually broiled in the oven toget the cheese to melt)

Thanks maleficent - sounds yummy!

I also like to prepare dinner at home for V-day. One thing that works well is to have foods where most of the preperation can be done ahead. One year I did cornish game hens which can be oven ready in the morning, or a day ahead. Just avoid things such as Risotto where you'll need to spend half the evening in the kitchen.
