I haven't eaten this as of late, but I used to make sandwiches with liverwurst, Cheese Whiz, peanut butter, and sometimes honey on them at once. I know there's a lot more, but some of the stuff I eat, I don't realise is weird until someone goes "EWWW" when they see me eating it.

dobster 10-29-2004 03:53 PM

Bloody Hell!! You Nut Bars!!

Right, I used to have baked beans on my chocolate crispies. (corn flakes in melted chocolate) YUM!!! (ish)

Onion and mustard sandwiches are good too...

macsmith230 10-30-2004 04:35 PM

Dates wrapped with bacon then broiled. I think it's a kind of common appetizer, but before I tried it it didn't sound all that appetizing to me.

Rodney 10-31-2004 10:21 AM

"Dirty Jalapeno Chips" and dried pineapple rings.

Oddly invigorating.

angeltek 12-07-2004 06:09 AM

I think it's safe to assume that ketchup goes with anything, or at least that is what the wife seems to think. She apperantly like Oreos and ketchup.

My personal oddities include Pizza with cornflakes and neopolitan icecream (go Turtles)

avernus 12-07-2004 07:20 AM

Salmon and Liquorice - this is a recipe created by Heston Blumenthal at his three Michelin stared restaurant The Fat Duck. There are 17 courses, each one consising of something weird like this. In on he has a pot of liquid nitrogen and makes bacon and egg ice cream at the table. Costs though.

Grasshopper Green 12-09-2004 12:31 PM

I've never had this but I used to have a friend that put maple syrup on his scrambled eggs.

DUDE I USED TO DO THAT. Tastes pretty damn good. Actually, maple syrup in just about anything does.

yellowchef 12-09-2004 03:12 PM

I like ketchup on my scrambled eggs.

maleficent 12-09-2004 03:23 PM

Tabasco on scrambled eggs...

I guess I'm a closet Elvis fan... but... the most decadent food combo, though more than one or two may just kill you... Peanut butter, Banana, Honey, and Bacon -- grilled...
Called The Elvis at The Peanut Butter Factory

Paul67 12-09-2004 03:26 PM

Cranberry sauce with hot fudge on vanilla ice cream. Wonderful!

I've heard about this guy, he's equal parts chef and mad scientist.

Next time you grill a steak, try kicking it up a notch with some cocoa powder.

Grasshopper Green 12-10-2004 05:19 PM

Actually mal, that sounds good (the Elvis sandwich) I may have to try it sometime!

RMMsGirl 12-10-2004 06:04 PM

listid 12-12-2004 12:37 PM

Yeeeeeeeeeecht!!!

But I don't eat it so :p

SparklingDot 12-18-2004 11:26 PM

I have a sandwich i make that is similar..
half PBNJ, half tuna sala. Grilled on raisen bread.
Cut into pieces, and dollop with sour cream when done. Good stuff!

You can replace the tuna with fried spam if you have it available.

snowy 12-19-2004 11:36 AM

Spam cooked in teriyaki sauce with a layer of sushi rice wrapped in nori (seaweed)=Spam musubi...mmmm sooo delicious, yet no one outside of Hawaii seems to believe me...

I like to take KFC coleslaw and mix it with mashed potatoes and gravy. Mm. I have a theory that everything is better with gravy.

:)

I'm sure I'll think of more.

Ganguro 12-19-2004 11:55 AM

I eat spam musubi all the time! There are a lot of Hawaiians that live in Vegas.
I want to go to hawaii and have the spam mcmuffin.
Though i think that could void my life insurance :)

longbough 12-22-2004 08:17 AM

canned corned beef over rice with a raw egg underneath it all

dobster 12-22-2004 08:21 AM

I like to have a McDonalds full breakfast (sausage, scrambled, muffin and hash brown) but with everything dipped in strawberry jam.

Definitely, but here's a variation on that goody. There was a pub around embassy row when I was in DC that served a sandwich called an "Art Buchwald". It was cream cheese and jelly with bacon on raisin toast. That and a Guiness were standard fare that summer.

RMMsGirl 12-22-2004 06:54 PM

Macaroni and Cheese, Canned corn, and ketchup

Avail 12-22-2004 09:39 PM

Raw cucumbers with salt.

little_tippler 12-23-2004 03:19 AM

jwoody 12-23-2004 03:58 AM

Rice and Chips, covered in curry sauce.

East meets West in perfect harmony.

godxzilla 12-23-2004 04:10 AM

raw cucumbers with salt are delicious! Folks at work think im strange becuase I put salt on my raw carrots

omega2K4 12-23-2004 10:43 PM

Hot sauce on just about anything.

bigd999 12-24-2004 10:26 AM

While not exactly food, you would never guess thes ingrediants together would taste like an oatmeal cookie :p

Equal parts: Butter Shots, Irish Creme, Goldschlager

SparklingDot 01-09-2005 09:23 PM

The people I work with eat salted lemons.

ryfo 01-09-2005 09:41 PM

try tomato sauce (ketchup?) on fried eggs....

pinkie 01-10-2005 07:23 AM

That's not odd, ryfo. :)

Ralli 01-10-2005 05:26 PM

okay here is one for you.....
Green Apples dipped in a sauce which is compiled of: Soya Sauce, Chilli, Sugar and a bit of Garlic.
It is an asian dish known as ROOD JUCK (*spelling - not sure if right - but is pronounced like that*)

Coppertop 01-10-2005 05:28 PM

My brother's friend used to dip strawberries into mustard. Yuck.

lite campfire 01-13-2005 01:53 AM

My mom eats tomatos with brown sugar.
Compared to everything else, that's the only remotely wierd combination I can think of.
Except the grilled cheese and pickle sandwich with mustard I made once, but that wasn't good. (cheese+pickle =good, cheese+mustard =good, mustard+pickle =bad)

whitenoise 01-14-2005 03:56 PM

the last resturaunt that I cooked at had an interesting pairing. green tea Poached pear with a curried grav lox. We served it like sushi, baton of pear with a few shavings of the lox. Delish.

appleseed 01-14-2005 06:43 PM

There's a restaurant in Pittsburgh called Primanti Bros where all the sandwiches are served with a huge mound of fries and vinegar cole slaw inside the sandwich. My favorite is the pastrami and fried egg sandwich with the aforementioned toppings. It is everything you could ever want in a sandwich.

Sage 01-14-2005 11:53 PM

i put salt on my watermelon... apparenlty this is "strange" but everyone i knew growing up did it.. .it's SOOO good!
i don't eat wierd stuff... have pretty plain tastes i guess!

superredhead 01-18-2005 10:51 PM

french fries dipped in vanilla milkshake or a potted meat and ruffles potato chip sandwich. soooo good

Leo 02-07-2005 02:31 AM

Honey and Reeeaaallly HOT mustard hot dog. Well, it seemed a weird combo the first time I heard of it, but it turned out it wasn't that rare. Absolutely love it!

LutherMac 02-08-2005 06:47 PM

Similar to the elvis one, I make a Peanut Butter, Banana, Lettuce, and Mayo! Yummy!!

Bratwurst 02-11-2005 04:00 PM

peanut butter and watermelon. I actually have tried this and like it.

magnum_xxxl 02-17-2005 04:01 PM

My favorites as a kid where
sugar cookies dipped in mustard (some kid took my cookie an put it in mustard at school, & I wasn't about to be shown up, it was all good after that)
& Oreos dipped in tropical punch flavored kool aid

Sage 02-17-2005 04:23 PM

i have never actually eaten this, but at one point after a late night of being young and having lots of newlywed sex, my husband and i were sitting around being hungry, and i thought the idea of a deep-fried bacon wrapped apple sounded REALLY good. he thought it was disgusting, but i still think the combination of the crispy salty bacon and the warm, sweet apple would be amazing. i might have to try this one day.... perhaps when apple season rolls around again :)

minyn 02-17-2005 04:27 PM

There wasn't any chocolate in the pomegranite chili sauce.

I cooked it by the way.

Lak 02-17-2005 05:10 PM

Apple with marmite. Top notch.

Once I was sitting on the couch with my strips of apple and a blob of marmite, and my dad figured it was chocolate sauce and tried to steal some. He was less than thilled at the results. Good times.

0energy0 03-06-2005 04:46 PM

seems you guys like peanut...

how about ox tail with salted baby shrimps

Beefimator 03-06-2005 05:01 PM

My grandfather used to dunk everything in his coffee. The weirdest was a bolonga sandwich. I'm a big fan of the ketchup and mustard sandwich.

0energy0 03-06-2005 06:08 PM

its just food, it ends up in your stomach one way or another.

kramus 03-06-2005 06:15 PM

I like cottage cheese with my eggs. When I worked in a fast food joint as a kid I learned to enjoy french fries with gravy and thousand islands salad dressing.

Fremen 04-04-2005 08:51 PM

Every once in a while I'll eat a bowl of peanut butter and waffle syrup in honor of my father. My pop turned me on to that one.

Also, when I was a kid, I apparantly had asked for baked beans on my vanilla ice-cream at my grandmother's house one birthday. They said I liked the dish very much and was all excited about it. :)
I haven't worked up the nerve yet to try them in recent years, though. ;)

jhkayakr 04-05-2005 05:15 PM

we used to eat popcorn in ice cream as kids

ranger 04-07-2005 08:30 PM

quite good: green grapes and ranch dressing

mix IBC rootbeer and Dr Pepper put drink within 3 hours...

cream cheese. straight up.

carrots with peanut butter... anything with peanut butter. even doritoes.

scarebearjinx 04-18-2005 04:44 PM

I don't know about the deep frying part, but I make a super tasty sandwich thus:
Toasted 6" sub roll, spread thinly with cream cheese, thinly sliced sharp cheddar, 1/2 thinly sliced grany smith apple, three slices of bacon, drizzle with pure maple syrup. Also works with Proscuitto instead of bacon. One of these days I want to try this with sweet hot pepper relish too.

Some others:
Grapefruit segments with goat cheese, endive, and aleppo pepper.

Proscuitto wrapped cantaloupe (yeah, I know, it's a standard Italian appetizer, but it strikes me as odd.)

Pineapple/Chipotle/Green Bell Pepper salsa.

Graham cracker breaded deep fried calamari (never tried it, but I have heard about this one and the theory is sound.)

Malta. You know, the unfermented dark ale from Goya? This is actually a non-combination. They forgot the frickin yeast! I tried it. Not revolting, but have a beer if you want a beer. I'm almost tempted to see if I could flatten a twack of it and ferment it out properly, but it's probably loaded with preservatives other than the hops.

Hot Pepper Porter (Actually, Hot Pepper. Licorice Root, Roasted Rye, Ginger, Smoked Porter. It was awesome! Bottled it in 22 oz Newcastle bottles.)

Ginger Brown Ale - The perfect beer to drink with sushi.

Chocolate Porter. A perennial favorite. Unsweetened chocolate in beer adds a depth that you cant find anywhere else.

Cayenne pepper in chocolate milkshake. Just a pinch makes it colder and chocolatey-er.

Doctor_Max 04-18-2005 06:41 PM

Perhaps the oddest one I've done was have a sandwich with:

Packaged tuna (waterless)
Salsa
Lettuce
Peanut Butter
Banana
Turkey
Bacon

It was sweat, yet meaty. It's fun to try random food combinations. As long as it's not outrageous, it usually isn't too bad. The funny part is, I hate Tuna by itself.

cellophanedeity 05-01-2005 07:45 PM

A friend of mine once made himself an omelette with everything he could find.
from what I can remember it included:
shrimp
relish
peanutbutter
grape jelly
and bacon

He said it was suprisingly good. No one believed him.

Raman with lettuce, french fries, beef and ranch dressing. So tasty. I am not a fan of ketchup so I tend to avoid it. Ranch on the other hand, I love ranch on anything savory. I have not tried anything sweet with Ranch.
