May favorite beer is microbrewed in Tampa, FL. But of the distributed beers, I'd have to say my favorite beer is Sierra Nevada
|
Grolsch, Bells Oberion, and Serria Nevada Pale Ale. Tops my list
|
i'm more a fan of spirits... but when i feel the need... TEDS are the choice for me...
A.K.A. Tooheys Extra Dry |
Hmmmm.... I like:
Kirin Sam Adams (any) Red Hook |
I like really thick taste alchol..so usually go for ales or laugers...regular beer just don't cut it >.<.
Favorite beer is Sam Adams Ale...followed by Arrogant Bastard (yes its a beer if you don't believe me look up Stone Brewery) then basically anything thick like Fat Tire. |
Yuengling - Preferably Black and Tan. Good stuffs.
|
Amstel Light, Pyramid Pale Ale
The only beer I've thrown away: Pilsner Urquell. Bought a 6 and could not stand it from the first sip. The wife tried one with the same reaction. So, after a year of having 4 bottles sit on my shelf, I dumped them. |
In no particular order:
Yuengling (When I can get it in Ohio...) Peroni (Italian, preferably light not dark) Rolling Rock Killians Bud Light if I'm feeling cheap and want a headache the next morning. |
I have a hard time picking favorites, as I live in the PacNW where micros are plentiful. More or less locally, I enjoy Rogue Mocha Porter, Rogue Chocolate Stout, McMenamins Terminator Stout, Great White by Lost Coast, Mac and Jack's African Amber...well, I could go on and on and on. Luckily for me there's a place here in town that has $2 micro pints on Tuesdays... :P
If someone else is buying and it's on tap, I go for Smithwick's or Guinness. You can't go wrong there. |
its usualy between Richards Red and Alexander Keiths for me.
and i agree with those who are saying you shuldnt count corona if limes are required (which in my opinion, they definatly ARE). if you have to add something to a beer to make it taste good well, why not just get a beer that tastes good initialy? meh, whatever |
Stella U.K
stingha Thailand CHang Thailand Bavaria Dutch (?) Bucanero Cuban  |

Nothing but the best for me. UUMMMM CORONNAAAAA. |
Carona? ugh. I like my beer to taste like, well...beer. Kilkenny is a good place to start. Any good micro (i.e. non corporate-brew) Ale or Pilsner and even a hearty Pale Ale is good.
But it's gotta taste like beer! |
I really don't like beer too much, meh. I dunno, I guess it's too much of an acquired taste. Plus, I only drink on very rare occasions [maybe once a month, if that].
If I do have it, I'd prefer Oberon [local kalamazoo stuff] or great lakes [in cleveland]. I shudder when people drink cheap things that they think it's good just because it's popular [bud, mgd, etc.] I don't care if it's cheap and the only thing available, I'd rather not drink at all than drink the cheap stuff. |

Lately... I've been drinkin' Smuttynose India Pale Ale, it's local to me, so I try to support them... It's pretty good. Vermont is close enough to local. Magic Hat has a bunch of tasty flavors... if not I'll stick with the stand by's of Blue Moon or Killian's Irish Red... |
Hmmmm, so hard to narrow it down to one, so I won't...
Stone Brewing Co. If you live in Southern California, get your hands on Arrogant Bastard Ale, (and in the winter, Double Bastard ale and Russian Imperial Stout) this is a real beer drinker's beer. All of Stone's stuff is extremely flavorful, whichever style you try. If you like bitter beers, their line of pale ales and ESB's are right up your alley. North Coast Brewing Very good representations of just about all styles, Especially the darker brews. Winter Brews Just about any "Winter Ale" as long as the "special" ingrtedient is not some fruit. Traditional winter ales are just brewed longer and with more malt/grain, not necessarily infused with fruit, yuck. Hefeweizen, plenty of good ones around, Pyramid is a good domestic, easy to find and not too pricey. And to whomever started the "tradition" of putting a goddamn slice of lemon in a hefe, you suck. If I wanted citrus, I'd have ordered a lemonade. |

Oh wow, that Smuttynose Winter ale looks absolutely beautiful!! i wanna try some. I wonder if the LCBO has some instock....(going to check their website) -- oh and that magic hat website is worth the visit! cool. |
I have to say that my top few in no order would be
Bud Ice Amberbock Rolling Rock Honey Brown |
Abita Purple Haze - slightly rasberry, very tasty- I could drink a whole six pack in one sitting!
Pyramid Apricot Weizen -also fruity, I like how the flavor changes as it warms up Sweetwater Blue -My favorite beer to enjoy while smoking a hookah at Asheville's hookah bar- Hookah Joe's Farmer Ted's Cream Ale -By far, my absloute favorite! Yes, I am a totally girly beer drinker! I'll try anything, but I prefer smooth, creamy beers and ones that are fruity as well. |
lately it's been Newcastle for me
|
I like this Sweetwater 420 ale that you can get in Georgia..
Also - any beer from the New Belgium brewery in colorado (like Fat Tire) is like heaven, but they don't ship to many states east of the mississipi.. |
Pilsner Urquell is pretty good, but not great. Then again, it is the source of the word Pilsner, so there is something to be said for it.
My favorites are Bitburger (german) or Ottakringer (austrian). Guinness can be good, but I find the quality is inconsistent, sometimes it tastes too sour or just funny. New Castle is real good though. In europe (at least germany and austria) depending on the bar you can get 'strong beer' - up to 15% alcohol, tasting like wine or molasses. I stay away from those fruity wheat beers though. For American I always like Summit, they make a real good winter ale, and it is local pride too (I live two blocks north of Summit Ave in St. Paul, though I haven't been to the brewery.) |
I'm a big beer fan. I've taken trips to Belgium to drink beer, visit breweries and have fun. I think overall my favorite is pretty much a Belgian standard, Duvel. It's like a little slice of heaven in a glass.
I noticed only one other person in this thread (i know there are a few beer threads) said anything about Belgian beers. Belgium has ~3000 different beers available. Not all are available at any one time and some of them taste nothing like you might consider "beer" but these folks are REALLY serious about beer. Some of the best selling (and one of the world's top rated beers) are brewed by Trappist Monks! Many people think of Germany when it comes to beer but in truth, the German Beer Purity Laws have so limited what can be done to beer that they've stagnated. It's my understanding that the Germans are going to relax these laws soon, or may have already done so. Originally intended to protect Germans from shite beer, they've actually limited their selection. Another neat thing about Belgian beers is that most have their own special glass! I collect Belgian beer glasses and have about 40. Overall, I'm pretty serious about my booze. |
Alexander Keiths!
Perferably in a pint glass, but I pretty much ONLY drink this beerwhen I go out. If they don't have keiths, usually I stick with Kokanee Gold. |
I haven't tried many, but if i'm strait up drinking beer, I like Corona and Deisel, I used to like select, but it doesn't taste good to me anymore.

here! here! both the Sleeman's and the Granville Island are stellar choices. I like your philosophy! |
Gotta go with the Sam Adams boston lager
|
When I used to drink, (I havent touched alcohol in a while) newcastle is the beer of choice...It's dark and nutty..yummy stuff...

My personal beer favorites are Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Dos Equis (Special Lager - good choice, Willravel), Pacifico, and Bohemia. I love the Mexican brews. (as she cracks open a cold one) |
I gotta go with the guys reccomending the Arrogant Bastard Ale. Good stuff. I just gotta say that Fat Tire is good it's definitly not the best that New Belgium has to offer in my mind. Try the Trippel some time. Odell's 90 Shilling is pretty tasty too.
On that note, I've seen this Bell's place mentioned a few times. Where abouts in the US is it located? I tend to travel a bit so if I'm in the region I'll definitly give it a go. |
Always up for some good ol DOuble bastard, although Sam Adams Crnabaric Lambic I picked up a while ago has me liking it a lot. Too bad it's a seasonal brew.

Sgoilear: I forgot about the Fat Tire, it definately is a great one. And if what you say is true about that not even being New Belgium's best, I guess I'll have to search out some more of their stuff. So far, I have only tried/seen the Fat Tire.
edit: After some research and e-mailing the company, I have discovered that they only have distribution of the Fat Tire here in Southern California. However, they do plan on getting wider distribution of their full line by mid 2006. ***Sigh*** I guess I'll have to wait it out. |
red stripe....
it embodies the spirit of jamaica. ya mon.... |
Mister Coaster: Where can you get Fat Tire here in SoCal?
|
NEWCASTLE, yeah I know it is a big seller now but I have loved it for years, I HATE aftertaste.
On the light side I am a Miller Lite fan On the poor side I live the High Life |
im2smrt4u: I work for Whole Foods Market, and I think all of our stores carry it. Unfortunately, we don't have any stores in the high dessert. I think the Pasadena location would be the nearest one to you. I actually e-mailed the company (New Belgium Brewing) yesterday and they were super cool, helpful and quick to respond. ( nbb@newbelgium.com ) just ask them if they know of any place near you. Apparently there are a few places in Vegas that sell as many as 6 of their beers, but only the Fat Tire in SoCali.
I hope the preceding does not qualify as a plug or violate TFP policy. Just passing along information. |
My favorite is probably Rochefort 8 :D
And Abaya's lately into 'Duchesse de Bourgogne', a Flemish red ale (mmm sour beer) |
I'm born and raised Nova Scotian, I am an Alexander Keith's man to the bone. I also like Propeller Blonde. Living in Halifax I frequented a nice pub (not a bar, important distinction) that had a very excellent selection of on Tap beer. Not to mention peanuts all over the place
But I live in North Texas, I had to go through major beer shock. I like Shiner Bock enough to drink it without complaint or hesitation. But it's just not the same. |
Corona or Sol is the one, nothin like a cold wet beer on a hot summers day ah beer might grab one now
|
i just found a bar that serves their beer in mugs so cold that the beer floats cool round sheets of ice continually to the top until you're half way down. They have Newcastle on tap and that's a damn fine beer when cold.
I also have been drinking some Fin du Monde lately and it's really made me want to try some more Belgium beers (yes I know it's not Belgium, but it's more like a Belgium than Canadian/US beer.) |
Currently it's Corona Light (gotta cut the calories...LOL). Or maybe Heineken. :) Supposedly I'm going to the Sierra Nevada brewery this weekend, since I have a friend from Chico whose dad works there.
|
I like Bass Ale, Labatt's Blue, Molson Ice, Stella Artois and Allagash pale ale (with a lemon) :) I also like black 'n tans.
|
Anyone else tried Baltica? It's a the biggest selling beer in Russia, and they're starting to introduce it here. I love both #3 and #4.
|
So I tried Unfiltered Wheat beer from the Sierra Nevada brewery the other day. I tell you what, it will get you fucked up pretty fast. Haha!

Thursday night we went to the Stone Brewing distro night, and boy, that was also great. For those of you unfamiliar with Stone, they brew Arrogant Bastard: http://www.realbeer.com/challengecup...gant-large.jpg as well as Stone IPA. They served up Double Bastard, Oak-Aged Arrogant Bastard, and the IPA. All highly excellent, especially the Oak-Aged. Great night. |
