Recipe of the Day - May 4 (blueberry-stuffed french toast)
Blueberry-Stuffed French Toast
Ingredients 8 Ounces cream cheese 12 Slices white bread 1-1/2 Cups frozen blueberries 12 Eggs 2 cups milk 1/3 Cup maple syrup Preparation Thickly spread cream cheese on 6 slices of white bread. Place bread (cream cheese side up) on the bottom of a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Evenly distribute blueberries on top of the bread. Cube the remaining 6 slices of white bread and sprinkle over the blueberries. Combine eggs, milk, and maple syrup and mix well. Pour this mixture over bread cubes. Refrigerate overnight. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour (1/2 hour covered with aluminum foil, 1/2 hour uncovered). Serve with maple syrup. |

it sounds very good--what's the point of cubing the bread on top? (what size cubes are we talking about?
Or is this like a french toast casserole? are the bottom pieces of bread completely lining the bottom of the pan? |
does the top pieces soak up the eggs? what about soak a whole extra slice with creme cheese no berries, then when ready to cook, put the two together?
