Recipe of the Day - November 18 (venison stroganoff)
Venison Stroganoff
Ingredients 1-1/2 pounds venison round cut in thin strips 1/2 cup flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. pepper 1/4 stick butter 1/2 pound fresh mushrooms 1/2 cup sliced onion 1 clove garlic, minced 1/4 tsp. dill weed 1/2 tsp. paprika 2 cups beef bouillon 1 cup sour cream Preparation Roll the steak in a mixture of flour, salt, pepper, dill, and paprika. Brown the butter in a large skillet. Add the steak, mushrooms, onions and garlic. Add bouillon and let simmer for about 45 minutes. Stir in sour cream (make sure mixture does not come to a boil). Simmer a few more minutes until heated through and serve over hot noodles. |
If I could find venison I would make this recipe! :) Wonder what other cuts of meat would work?

Just a thought….how bout BEEF, I hear it goes well with stroganoff… :p
Hey JadziaDax, great time of year for hearty recipes. You seem to have a lot of them. Forgive me for putting you on the spot, my curiosity is getting the best of me. Are these scrumptious treats all your own? |
Sounds tasty, though the paprika is a new one for me for stroganoff recipes
|
This sounds like it would be good with moose too.
The original recipe was developed for the same reason the mongolian beef was, to make tough meat palatable. The best food comes from peasant recipes. |

These recipes are all from my own collection. Some are from family, some are from friends, some are from the coupon section of the newspaper, some are from the special sections of the newspaper, etc. And yes, some are actually my own little attempts at making something edible. Do I remember where I get them from? Not really. There's only one recipe that I will never post... and that is the one from the vault of family secrets. ;) |
When I think beef stroganoff, I always think of this joke (and please, hold the tomatos!): What do you call a masturbating cow?
