What kind of tastey dishes have you created by just dumping stuff into a fry pan ?
the other day I started dumping meat and all kinds of miscelaneous sauces into my fryin pan. The dish ended up being the best damn casserole I've ever made. It had : pound of hamburger meat, half an onion, some mushrooms, ranch dressing, sour creme, onion dip, garlic, box of tomato soup powder, some cheddar cheese, and a bunch of different seasonings and spices. Best damn meal ever. I love cooking up crap like that, it always tastes different and good.
What kinds of things have you made by cleaning out a fridge or by bordem and hunger resulting in such a thing ? Cooking spaghetti noodles then adding whipped eggs and all sorts of bullion cubes and crap makes a weird and delicious soup too. i rarely cook with recipes. |
Something I just made tonight: had some leftover brown rice. Put it in a bowl, chopped an apple into small chunks and mixed it in, poured a good handful of shredded Romano on top and nuked it for three minutes. Drizzled a little extra-vigin olive-oil on top, and eat. God, that was good.
Here's another leftover dish I really like, a real odds-and-ends dish: throw leftover rice in a bowl, throw in some tortilla chips or a couple of torn-up corn tortillas. Chop up half an onion, throw that in; slice up a couple of hot dogs, throw that in (I use soy dogs); throw some chili on top, maybe 1/3 a can. Slice some cheddar, throw that on top. Nuke that sucker for 3-4 minutes. Then eat with tabasco or a hot salsa. God, that's good. |
I took angel hair noodles and cooked those. Drained them and threw em back in the pot. Added a tiny amount of milk ( like a tablespoon) and ranch dressing, italian seasoning mix, and butter. Put a few shots of Chipolte sauce in it. Damn good pasta dish, tastes unique, ranch and chipolte with italian twist.

Cut chicken into fajita-stized strips and threw in a cup of Pace picante in a pan. Cooked for 15 minutes, then threw into a big flour tortilla with cheese melted in. Rolled up and pigged out!

cut up some stew beef into strips, added some spices, then threw in basically all the veggies we had in the fridge at the time (some bean sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery, onion) put in some garlic, more random spices, some salt and pepper, homemade BBQ sauce leftover from last week, serve. tasted so good

Took an egg, mixed it with already sauteed mushrooms, chuck in some already sauteed potato chunks...and then made a sorta omlette, sorta scrambled mess.
Yum. [When I was little, I put chocolate syrup, mayonnaise, milk, sugar, parmesan cheese, and mustard together in a jar. When I didn't wanna eat it, after I saw what it looked like, my mother got angry we had wasted food and forced my sister and I to sit at the table until we had drunk this nasty concoction. We ended up sneaking into the backyard and throwing it away. Phew.] |
Last time I invented coconutmilk-curry-chicken-couscous.
Two pans: Pan1) Honey marinated chicken filee bits and when they are done a can of coconut milk. Added some curry paste and mixed. Pan2) Frozen couscous & vegetables mix, just heated it. Take a cereal bowl, first take some vegetablecouscous and then some coconut sauce & chicken. Eat with spoon. Fast, cheap and good. Can be made to server 2+ ppl. |
Ok this is my trademark dish, you can't go wrong, and it feeds about 4 people.
Brown about 350g mince in either oil or butter. To that mince add 3-4 cans of peeled Tomatoes, either whole or chopped, the thicker the better. Then add the following spices: lots of oregano, a bit of chilli powder, a bit of curry powder and then some crushed garlic or some garlic powder. Stir this whole thing up real good and reduce the heat. Meanwhile get a pot going to cook some pasta. I find either Penne (the little tube things) or some Elbows work well, but Spirals are also good, infact any pasta is good. Cook the pasta for 10 minutes, drain, and put the pasta into the large pan that has the mince/tomato/spice mixture. Stir in the pasta and put the element on the lowest possible setting. This is the important bit, put the lid on and let the pasta absorb some of the liquid for about 10-15 minutes. This makes the pasta really soft and also infuses it with all the goodness. Then serve into plates and eat with some sour cream. This recipe is absolutely devine, and tasty to say the least. |
Here's one you might try during the holiday season. You know that office party vegetable tray that no one eats from? Take the celery, tomatoes, cauliflower, and other veggies home when no one is looking and make a crockpot minestrone. Sautee the mushrooms in butter. Throw the dipping sauce away.

I didn't make one by dumping stuff into a frying pan but made cookies that way kindof.
Ended up with peanut butter, oatmeal, M&M's, peanuts, and the other basic cookie ingredients. Kindof ended up with a cookie like a trail mix if you know what I mean. More good for you than just using plain Crisco for the oils and the oatmeal took place of some of the bleached all purpose flour. Hubby liked them too even and he can be a bit picky. Another one I figured out was corn on the grill. Take the husks off, make foil "boats" mix up a butter sauce with chives, pepper, and cayenne, and melted butter. Pour it over the corn and seal the top of the foil. Put it on the grill and it will make you drool just smelling it cooking. |
I have found that after mixing all the leftovers up in the fry pan, ya cant go wrong if you eat the masterpeice with a flour tortilla....

ok easy one:
breaksfast burritos: add a bit of butter to a pan, melt. add as much chopped garlic as you can stand (more the better in my book) and heat till its half cooked (not quite brown) add some form of protein, either shrimp, steak, chicken ect, cook till it is nearly done add 3 eggs and scramble. add cheese melt throw it into a burrito and eat, its quick and easy and taste great. |
Potatoes, sliced thin. Saute in a very small amt of butter. When they're almost done cooking, toss in sukiyaki sauce. Used to make this all the time because I always had the ingredients, but then stores around here stopped carrying sukiyaki sauce. Jerks :P

chicken oranges Green Pepper Onion Fajita Seasoning A dash of lemon juice Cooked in a light olive oil Crushed Red pepper A dash of Garlic powder I wouldn't have thought that the oranges would be so tasty...but they were. |
Try this, thinly cut beef, marinate in garlic, soy, red chili, green onions, ric wine, dark vinegar. Cook on hi heat for 30 sec. You'll have excellent, japanese style rare beef. Awesome with rice.
