storing lettuce?
anyone have a good way to store leaf lettuce for more than a few days? Seems like every time i buy lettuce it is turning brown after a few days. And i keep it wrapped up and in the crisper in the fridge. any ideas out there?

Keeping it wrapped up is a good thing.
The question is how? The greens need air, keeping them in a bowl covered with a damp cloth or paper towel will keep them crisp for about a week. In the fridge of course. |
thanks Average-Joe. I think that not giving the lettuce air was the problem. Ill put it in a bowl from now on! thanks again.

NOTE: if the lettuce you purchased has been dropped, this will quicken the decaying process. Also, the bacteria from handling will contribute. Oh boy. There are so many reasons why, another is washing with tap water. Chlorine and fluoride break down the cells
..
What I do is let it turn into slime, and use it as a spread. :p |
