Butter or Margarine?
Real butter is perhaps the most useful and divine concoction ever created.
Real margarine is not. 'Nuff said. |
Butter has better "slide" potential!
/nuff said |
Butter, hands down. Margarine makes me ill. Even the thought of it turns my stomach...ewww.
|
Butter all the way, I never use margarine. I worked at a place that made the shit. Just add water, oil, colouring and flavoring and whip the shit out of it and you have margarine....*yuk*
|
Butter, definitely.
|
Whatever. I really can't tell the difference so I use margarine. I'm not too picky.
|
I prefer butter, but the wife insists on buying margarine.
|
Butter is where the flavor is at.
|
Butter is the way to go, better flavor, and you typically use less of it because the flavor is stronger and better so it ends up being better for you in my opinion.
|
Butter it's natural. Margerine will last through an atomic explosion
It will greese the bearings in your tires |
Margarine is made by taking relatively healthy fatty acid and saturating them with hydrogen so that they have all the negatives of butter without the flavor. Therefor, if you are going to use it, go with the butter.
|
Yep, butter, it's a no-brainer!
Up here in Quebec, there's some law, to "protect" the butter/dairy industry, that makes butter-coloured margarine illegal, if you can believe it. The thinking is that if they look the same, we the consumer will be too stupid to know the diff. So margarine here is just off-white in colour, like, well, congealed fat, more or less. Gross looking and tasting, blech!! |
Butter is one of the most sacred elements of cooking.
I don't even want to express my opinion of margarine. |
Love the taste of butter but love my arteries even more, I'll stick with margarine....
|
:( i'm using Promise now.. I miss real butter... but then again... if it keeps me on the planet a bit longer.. then I'm all for using Promise.
|
Definately butter. You just don't get the flavour with margarine. I usually get it at Sam's Club, because it's so much cheaper. Butter freezes really well, so it's not a problem having 4 pounds in the house.
If you're using a recipe that calls for a lot of clarified butter, see if you can find an Indian grocery that sells jars of ghee. It's not that expensive, and It's pretty much just clarified butter. Saves a bunch of time. If you're concerned about your health, get some more exercise. Margarine isn't that much if at all better for you, and it tastes like crap. Enjoy life. [grin]. |
salted butter, any day.
Margarine is vile and does not react nearly the same in cooking., |
as much as i like butter, there's something to be said for that margarine in a tube, that you can squeeze out like jelly!
|
Doesn't really matter to me. I only use it for cooking (don't spread it on bread unless it is garlic bread) so I usually have butter at home. But I also use margarine and I don't mind either...
|
I can't belive it's not butter spray!
Tastes great |
Butter, but not a lot of it.
|
Sweet Cream Butter VS. Hydrogenated Vegatable Oil
Pretty easy choice! Few things have the taste of butter. Warm bread with butter is oh so good, and on corn! toast! baked Potatoe, the list goes on and on. |
Butter for me. Margarine has way too much water. It doesnt cook right and it makes toast soggy.
|
Butter defenitely.
|
I am too poor to buy butter so I don't really know the difference. All I know is that when I go shopping the margarine is SOOOOOOOO much cheaper that I can't resist.
|
Butter butter butter.
Ever see Emeril or his buddies use margarine? |
Olive oil.
Butter's better than margerine for most things, but margerine is usually more convenient that butter. In my house, anyway. |
Butter, as long as its softened right. Cant be good country cooking wihtout using butter or lard.
|
Butter...period. You can't bake with margarine. Eww!
