Monte Cristoo Sandwiches

Monte Cristo Sandwiches
These sandwiches are sort of french-toasty with a
delicious filling of turkey, ham and Swiss cheese! Delicious!
Prep Time: approx. 15 Minutes. Cook Time: approx. 10
Minutes. Ready in: approx. 25 Minutes. Makes 4 servings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
8 slices French bread
8 ounces honey ham, chopped
8 ounces smoked turkey
breast, chopped
24 slices Swiss cheese

Directions
1 In a large bowl, beat together eggs and milk. Stir in
cinnamon and nutmeg.
2 Heat a non-stick skillet to medium heat. Dip the bread
slices in the egg mixture, place in the skillet and cook
until lightly brown on both sides.
3 Remove bread from skillet. Layer four slices of bread
with a slice of Swiss cheese, ham, Swiss cheese, turkey and
Swiss cheese again. Cover with remaining four bread slices.
Return sandwiches to skillet; grill until cheese has melted
and bread has browned. Serve hot.

I LOVE Monte Cristo's. Ive always made them by taking left-over french toast and making a grilled ham/turkey and cheese with them. Of course this is the quick way of making them.

At the restaurant Bennigan's they serve a Monte Cristo, although it's very VERY different. They make a sandwhich with 3 slices of bread and the normal Monte Cristo filling...but they deep fry the entire sandwhich! I've tried it once and after eating a part of it the whole frying thing started to get to me. After i was done i kinda got that same disgusting feeling that i get when i eat fast food. Although they call it a Monte Cristo I wouldnt classify it as such. It's good if you want to have a heart attack

Great sandwich! I also add sour cream and a berry-type marmalade to top it off.

You forgot the first two steps:

Step 1: Escape from Prison
Step 2: Plot Revenge

Now you can REALLY enjoy your sandwich.

MCs are yummy but you can shortcut the process by just injecting some lard directly into your veins. I have been told by my wife I can only have one on my birthday during a leap year.

At disneyland they have these on the menu of the Blue Bayou restaurant. That's the first I've had them and since that's all I ever want when I go back there.

I'm not a big fan of the cheese, but man that jelly just makes it great.

Mmmmm. Thanks for the recipe.

I ordered a Monte Cristo at Rock Bottom and my friend looked at me and laughed. I asked him what was so funny, and he said
"You're going to order that? It's a meat doughnut!"

I haven't been able to eat one since.
