Favorite Type Of Soup?
 

Tomato soup for me, any kind will do.

Living in Massachusetts and being surrounded by very well made New England Clam Chowder forces me to elect it as my favorite.

My mother make a mean clam chowder soup, to bad she only makes it once a year.

Maryland Crab Soup.

Turtle Soup in New Orleans. Oh, and Campbells Cream of Mushroom.

Hand made cream of vegetable or cream of chicken.

Lovely jubbly...

Also, I remember my mother making home-made tomato soup when I was a kid. Haven't had it in years though...

I used to live on split pea and ham, but now I'm more of a chicken soup man.

Tomato and cream of crab..... gotta love them!

ooh...i love soup, it's good shit.

um..i'm a vegetarian, so any meat soups are out of the question

(altho - because someone else mentioned it..i remember as a kid, my grandma made turtle soup sometimes, and it was good shit)

my favorite soup is prooly just a basic vegetable soup with potatoes peas carrots green beans in a tomato/veggie broth base...

but i also love splitpea soup and lentil soup and hmm, any kind of soup without mushrooms or celery i will prooly happily eat.

Clam chowder here also...... good stuff!

Homemade Chicken Noodle - light broth, egg noodles, big chunks of carrot, leeks, and celery.

Miso soup or New England Clam Chowder.

I forgot... I had this great soup at a Thai restaurant about a month ago and it was so good I had to go back again and again to get it.... I can't remember what its called but it has shrimp in a spicy and lemony broth... mmmmmm sooooo good!

I think it's called Tom Yum, and yes, it's quite yum-my. :)

My favorite would probably shark fin soup or lentil soup (on the spicy side).

Favorite quick can of soup is made by Progresso, i never eat Campbells soup anymore.

Ooh, CanuckAlert just reminded me of something else that's really good: Mushroom Barley! Mmmm. Let me see if I can find a good recipe. Basically, anything with barley makes for a good soup. yay, barley!

mmmmm...ramen...instant or better yet, the REAL THING as served in a japanese restaurant!

clam chowder, miso, and egg drop are all high on my list

Gumbo, but it has to be thick gumbo. I'm not a big fan of spicy food, but well done gumbo is just perfect. :D

Cream of Tomato soup
Cambells used to make this in a can, but stopped like 10 years ago-milk doesn't make the same taste, but a teaspoon of non dairy powdered coffee creamer recreates it almost exactly.

Beef Consomme, or Hot and Sour Thai soup, with bamboo and tofu (5 years abo I would have wretched at the idea of anything with tofu in it).

Oh man this thread reminds me of the Soup Nazi show on Seinfeld. I just watched it the other day. If you haven't seen it, go download it on Kazaa and watch it. It is hilarious!

New England Clam Chowder, miso soup, sizzling rice soup, Matzo Ball, and if I am at Chilis the enchilada soup is tasty.

My fav used to be Hot and Sour from this chinese restaurant, man it was great until they started skimping on ingredients.

I love Beef Barley, and French Onion- with a ton of cheese, and love the Gumbo.

I love soup in general, could live off that alone, well not really.

Some of the Chunky soups are okay, only if you doctor them up.

Soup is the bomb.

I like Avgolemono, Chinese soup's Won Ton, Egg Drop, and Sweet and Sour. Cream of Broccolli preferably with cheese.

And last but not least Dill Pickle soup. I know it sounds nasty, but the Dill is not really that overpowering.If your ever in Hamtramak MI, go to "Under the Eagle" resturaunt. Yummy..

Absolutely, positively, without any shadow of a doubt, my mom's homemade chicken soup.

One day I'll et her to reveal the recipe (even though there are small changes every time it's made) and I'll expose its deliciousness to the rest of the world!

What I do know is that she uses a capon chicken (whatever that means) which I guess is not typically used in soups. The broth is very light and includes a hint of tomato (and delicious :D) and it includes celery and carrots as vegetables. As far as noodles she uses Kluski noodles (again, I just buy the stuff so I don't really know the difference between those noodles and other types). It takes her all day to make it - I think the total time is something like 7 to 8 hours.

It's so good that when she makes it I will call any of my friends I can to come over for dinner that night (it's made in large amounts - typically enough for 3 or 4 nights of dinner) and my brother will get upset if we don't invite his family over as well. And he also tries to steal one or two frozen containers of leftovers if he visits and there's any in the freezer!

I love a good potato soup. The califower soup recipe on the NPR website is good. I've recently been mastering french onion soup. I have to have a Pho fix every now and again. Yeah, soup is the stuff of life.

I think I lived off of soup last winter... it's cheap, warm, and filling!
