What the hell is Massachusetts? A container of french fries surrounded by chocolate chip cookies? Who eats that?

SecretMethod70 06-18-2010 07:01 AM

Illinois... is that... Zucchini?

Well, I understand the presence of chocolate chip cookies--it's a reference to its invention in Massachusetts, but I don't get the french fries.

Is it just my eyesight or is it really hard to determine what some of these things are? There's a random meat product over Oregon; I can't figure out what it is.

I think Oregon is salmon. I also tried to find a higher resolution copy of this map, but no such luck.

Apalachicola oysters are the best oysters in the world, imo, and where's the fried fish over the south, or fried chicken or fried anything. Why is it shrimp over LA and not craw-fish/crayfish? Some of the best crabs come from the Chesapeake and FL for that matter, who made this map? Oh wait, 1947, that explains it..... o.k.

Had they waited a mere 7 years later to make this map they could have just stuck a big Swanson's TV Dinner over the U.S. and called her good, :) .....cookies and french fries, I'm just cracking up over that.

The crab near Oregon is a Dungeness. If you've never had one, I'm sorry. :)

And yes, Redlemon, I think that is salmon. Good eyes. I think I need new glasses.

Oh I agree with you there snowy, Dungeness crab is fabulous, so too is King and Snow (Tanner, Opilio and Bairdi), but I have a special affinity for the FL/Eastern Blue crab, especially Lump Imperial, YUM, However my favorite crab by far is the Stone Crab, gently steamed and then dipped in real butter, heavenly.... especially when I get to catch them first, an amazing experience all around. :)

I wonder what's in that jar out in Western Nebraska?
