Not sure this is the correct board for this, but I have a still and have only been able to find one recipie for whisky. I would like to make more kinds of alcohol, but so far only have one. It comes out really good as I have perfected the mix of ingredients, but I really want more. If anybody has any more recipies for vodka, rum, gin, anything, let me know.

Why don't you post that recipe for whiskey? In the mean time, here's a balloon wine recipe that I've tried and it actually makes pretty decent table wine.

In a one gallon, or 4 liter glass wine bottle, mix the following:

2 1/4 tsp dry yeast( I usually put this in first with a little lukewarm water to dissolve it.

2 cans of 100% grape juice ( white for white wine, concord for red)

1 1/2 - 2 cups of sugar, depending on how dry or sweet you like your wine

Fill the rest of the bottle with lukewarm water

stretch medium sized balloon ( I think 12 inch) open end over mouth of wine bottle.

Place in cool place ( basement) for 6 weeks. Check the balloon for the first week or so to make sure it hasn't popped or has holes. If so, replace with new balloon.

After 6 weeks, strain through a paper coffee filter into smaller wine bottles. I bought a corker and store the bottles on their side in the basement.

By the way, if you don't want to invest in a corker, you can put balloons on the smaller bottles, just don't store them on their sides. If you drink wine relatively fast, you can just strain it into another 1 gallon bottle and keep the balloon on it.

What is the alcohol content of the wine, have you figured that out. To be able to make the whiskey you need a still that cost me about 200 bucks, but I got a lot of free stuff for it. I think it would be around 400 bucks or so if not for all the free stuff. If you still want the recipe I will get it.

I don't know the alky content, but a couple glasses will kick your ass. As far as the whiskey recipe, that's ok, I'd probably never make it anyways. By the way, did you know it's illegal to make your own hard stuff?

well it is and its not illegal to make your own stuff. Your allowed to make 1 gallon a year for personal consumption, but I drink alot of distilled water and also I need it for my classic cars I restore.

Though, I'd recommend using the newer stack distillers and starting off with beer rather than your own mash if you're a beginner.

Ethanol fuel at gas station = would be good if they didn't add benzene (ya know, makes it kinda poisonous...........which is a bad thing in my books ;)

Well, im actually looking for recipes to use in a still, not mixed drink stuff. Hard liquer is the name of the game here.

In the USA it is illegal to make your own hard liquor. You can make up to 100 gallons per year each of wine and beer, or 200 gallons each if you are considered the 'head of your household' but getting caught with untaxed whiskey will not be pleasant. I've heard a detective say that if they find it in your car, that car is no longer yours.. it belongs to the state from that point on. Dunno if that's true, and this was several years ago that I heard that, but there you have it.

Anyway, beer is really easy to make if you're interested in that. As long as you're careful with sanitation, it's a very simple matter to make a decent tasting brew with high alcohol content right in your kitchen. If anyone's interested I'll start a thread on that.. I have some pictures from my latest batch.
