homemade veggie burgers
Hi, this is just for the 'meat' of the burger, you can dress it as you would anything else, but it has a lot of 'interesting' flavors.
1 can drained chick peas (i buy the bag and soak them overnight) 1 med onion about a tsp of cilantro 3-4 cloves garlic salt put all of this into a blender and pulse until it looks relatively well blended, add flour to make it stick together a bit more, but don't add too much. You just want it to resemble a lump when you're done and not sticky when you handle it. you can actually season it however you want. When you're ready to cook, form patties, place a bit of olive oil in a cast iron pan, put the patties on, flip after a few minutes, till browned on both sides. put on burger bun, condiments as usual and there ya go. 1 thing..it does not, AT ALL taste like a hamburger, but i got addicted to these while dating a vegetarian. and if you're up for something else, form the stuff into a ball and deep fry for easy falafel, put it in pita with lettuce, cuke, tomato and tahini sauce, and it's something different as well. |
Isn't that just a big falafel in a bun?

it is falafel in a bun, however, try explaining that to people who have never heard of falafel nor seen a middle eastern person in the flesh.
