Eat the fish skin also?
Lately I've been getting various fish for supper, and I'm curious if it is safe/recommended to eat the skin of the fish as well as the meat?
Eating the skin is an acquired practice, but I'm told there are a lot of nutrients in it.. |
I too would like to know as i tend to leave the skin. Also, what is the best way to cook the fish if you are wanting to eat all of it?

Fish skin can be quite tasty. My personal preference is fried. That way, the skin comes off the fish, and is eaten after the fish as a tasty little treat.
Just make sure you clean the skin very well. I can't stand scales. |
Mmm, fish skin is delicious, and Siege is right: the best way is fried.

at a sushi place, salmon skin maki are pretty tasty - the texture takes a bit to get used to - -like one bite- but oooh are they good...
|
Eat the skin. Properly prepared there shouldn't be any scales (they are supposed to be removed). The skin is where all the really good stuff is located. All the Omega 3 fat there... this is very good for you.
Eat your skin or there will be no pudding. |
I've eaten the skin as long as I can remember. My entire family does and we're all still alive, so I'm pretty sure it's safe. I like the skin no matter how the fish is cooked: steamed, fried, sauteed, etc.

just like potatoes... eat the skin :)
