Denver Beer Fest Meet-Up
 

It's been discussed in chat a few times so I'm gonna throw this out there...


Great American Beer Festival - Sept 16th-18th Tickets aren't on sale yet (most likely in June) and as far as I can remember they run around $55 a person. And trust me, it's worth it. Around 2,000 beers to taste. The entire city of Denver is one giant party for three days... all for the sake of BEER!!!


Hotels fill up quick and tickets sell out quick. We should jump on this as soon as we can. Figure out which day to go. Where everyone is gonna stay. I have a limited amount of room at my apartment but some can stay here.



Let me know people... It will be a blast.

I for sure want to go. And it is perfect timing as smrt's birthday is Sept. 18th. What an awesome birthday outing that would make!

I talked to a client earlier in the week who's in Denver that has some new stuff for us. If he comes through on those things, then I'm going to need to do something nice for him. And this fits that bill. And if I could finagle a day for myself....

I'm all about it...but it depends on money and work situations. If that all works out, get ready. I'm bringing my sleeping bag, and I expect popcorn.

I'd need to talk to Mrs TK, but I could easily make it my birthday present. Keep this thread bumped so that when deadlines start to approach for ticket buying and stuff I can remember to get on it.

Yeah give us a heads up when things get closer. I guess can't guarantee I'll be available in September, but more then likely it shouldn't be a problem. I miss Denver and have been looking for a good excuse to go back.

If my plans for FL fall through, I'll come out.

If that's the case, my bday is the 4th, so we can have a HUGE TFP birthday bash in Denver.

[edit] It looks like it is a holdover from last year...the hotels are all saying "sold out" also, but with 2009 dates.

Is this at the convention center that is easy walking distance from the Denver Magnolia Hotel? I've stayed in one of their suites for a CEDIA trade show, and it was one of the nicest hotels I've been at...it looks like it isn't too expensive at the beer rates either, if the prices don't go up.

Everything downtown is within walking distance from the convention center. It's a small city.

In case I don't see this thread in June, someone give me a holler when tickets go on sale.

We're still in...Mini TK will be 2 and a couple months, plenty old enough for her first weekend alone at Gramma's House.

i will be down. i am coming from outside of town (boulder area) but the bus system is sufficent for those who cannot stay closer. is there anyone who might have a back yard available to pitch a tent?

As far as tickets... We should decide which day/days we are going.

No... Thursday is the party night. It's mostly service industry people... bartenders, servers, cooks... It's crowded no matter what day it is.

I like the sound of "party night" but I think in deference to people flying in, a Saturday evening might be easier to schedule days off around.

Saturday works for me.

Should we just state right now that we will be going Saturday Sept 18th? I'm pretty that's the most popular day to go. It being a weekend and all. That's the main reason we always have gone on Thursday.

Is this going to be an all weekend thing? Is everyone going to fly in on Friday? I'm just trying to get my dates straight so that I will show up on the right day.

Not sure when we will get there or when we will leave. Depends on how much time smrt can get off from work. It is his birthday so we hope he will be able to get a few days, maybe we will drive out, or even ride the motorcycle!

Tickets go on sale to the public on June 28th.

So what's everyone doing? It's going to be $110 for two people for the evening session Saturday, OR $128 for the afternoon AND evening, if you join the homebrew association that then gives you bar discounts. I'm leaning towards that....

I'm okay with that... I'm already a member.

Looking at the tickets now and I'm not seeing that members get both afternoon and evening sessions...can anyone point out a page that confirms that?

If not, would the members session still be a better bet?

It's not for both sessions. Just for the day time one. I don't think. It's not really worth it to pay for a membership... In my opinion. Unless you want all the magazines, and emails that come with it. It's a Denver based thing so most of the discounts and event are gonna be here.

That and the Member's Only session is gonna be full of beer SNOBS. It's not as much of a party vibe. That and after a day of drinking heavy American ales we wouldn't be much in the mood to go out that night. One can get very drunk on 2oz tasters...


I think we should stick to Saturday night. And we need to get on it quickly.

Bought tickets for Arin & I for the Saturday night session. Can't wait!

I am in the UK for work the week before, so am going to try to set my tickets up so I fly back straight to Denver Saturday morning and meet Mrs TK there. Once I'm sure I can pull that off, I'll buy tickets.

Is Mrs. T driving up? Will you be getting a hotel room? I know Star/Smrt and Eden/Cinn will be staying with me and my fiancee. I'm sure we can make room for two more.

She'll be flying, and we would totally throw down some sleeping bags if you're offering! We *might* have talked another couple into going with us, and if so, we'll split a hotel with them, but otherwise, hellooo floorspace!

If I can make it, I got dibs on the couch...

Cinn and I are still running numbers to see if this is possible or not. Money is tight here and even with flight prices ($500 for both of us) it's still a lot of money. We will keep you informed on if we can afford it or not.

I'm thinking that we won't be able to go, with us buying the scooter and other items on our NEED NOW list, it's just not feasible to go. There is more important things to spend our money on than getting drunk in a different city.

Well, if you change your mind or win a scratchers, Saturday night tickets are still only 53% sold according to the sell-out meter on the site.

I will know this week or next if I'm going to be attending...something has come up which could definitely interfere with my wife going, and I don't really want to go on a trip without her.
