I think this is great. The advent of the internet and the quality of both the hardware and software that's available these days to the masses...it's just mind boggling sometimes.

There's certainly more to say, but I'll just leave it at that for right now. :)


Anybody else have a clip to some quality amateur film they want to share?

I wish THAT fight was in one of the recent SW films. That was very cool.

Very cool! Seriously, star wars should have studied martial art films for their fight sequences!

I hate to be one of those people that come in a thread and shout "OLD!!!" but the video came out when I was still in high school (4-5 years ago at least). The guys that made it obviously have some killer video editing skills and great martial arts (if it is them in the video). There's a couple of other great videos going around the Internet of lightsaber fights but this one is definitely the most epic (I love the music).

It would have been cooler if they had been decked out in full Samurai regalia, with lightsabers. :)

There is always The Fanimatrix - that was pretty cool, but the site fanimatrix.net is gone...I wonder if they got sued or something?

saw it a while ago... but its still pretty cool those guys have some great martial arts skills....

some friends and I messed around with lightsaber videos when i was in highschool... used painted sticks an then edited it frame by frame to make them light sabers... looked good but took FOREVER to do...

IGN.com has all these videos like this. There are tons more there (including this one). One thing I don't like about these clips and what I liked more about the older Star Wars movies (especially Return of the Jedi) is the "unstructured" feel of the lightsaber battles. These new videos like this one seem way too structured and "look what I can do, this doesn't actually help the battle, but wow, I can do THIS!!!!!!!" Such as flipping the lightsaber around when it doesn't need to be flipped around. Mark Hamill wielding his lightsaber swinging violently at Darth Vader is the best......you can almost feel the hate/rage Luke is venting through his lightsaber swings as he just swings that fucker......his only purpose is to kill/incapacitate Darth Vader, not do cool little moves and swings and shit....seems much more natural (and pertains to the original purpose for a lightsaber - a weapon. not a glow stick). These videos just seem like "LOOK AT ME! I'M AN ATTENTION WHORE!!!!!"

Great video, I liked that it kind of had a story to it, great music, and choreography. Is there a way to save it to disk?

Exactly. the later movies have too much posing, and this film even more. Not that I'm nay saying this, this is a great amateur film but most of that is not martial arts, its movie martial arts (acrobatics).

Put the weapon down. It is not a toy. Don't spin it. Clean it, then shoot it. Mark my words, if I have enough time to learn how to spin a C7 around, I need to grab a case of beer and call some friends.

I thought that was pretty cool. It entertained me and thats what it was for. I think you guys are looking to far into this, its just some guys having fun
